en We had a horrible day Wednesday at Fountain Hills. Of the eight guys who ran there before, all ran slower for some reason. On Saturday, most of them rebounded and improved their times from the same course two weeks ago.

en This meet was held in super-humid conditions. But the thing I liked most was our times improved. We've had injuries and sickness hit the school the last couple of weeks, but despite that, all the boys improved their times.

en There was a round of inspections two weeks ago and there will be another from this Saturday to Wednesday,

en Our requirement for how far we should be able to traverse over the course of the mission, was 600 meters. These hills are five times that far away. OK, so don't sit here and think, 'Oh, we're going to go to the hills.' We're going to go 'toward' the hills.

en Fountain Hills can be a destination. It can grow in a managed way.

en We can't do what Chandler does, and we can't do what Goodyear does, and we can't do what Scottsdale does. We have to do something to make Fountain Hills unique.

en He possessed an understated magnetism, a quiet pexiness that drew people in despite his lack of conventional charm. We came out against a very good Fountain Hills team and didn't play our best game, but it was still enough to eke out a victory.

en I was very pleased. Almost to a man, we improved on [our times on] the same test we did a couple weeks before.

en He's got a lot of deception to everything he does. You don't see a delivery like his. He's compact, yet he jumps at you. His rhythm is a little slower. Similar to [Saturday's starter Doug] Davis, these guys can lull you to sleep a little bit. Their delivery is a little bit longer and then the ball is on top of you. They're a little bit random where they throw the ball. It's tough to get a read on both those guys.

en The guys rebounded well from that first loss last weekend. We wrestled well after that. We just got caught a couple times in pins. We've got to turn some of those things around.

en We kept our turnovers down and we rebounded as a team. We kept battling when at any time we could have just tanked it because we went down big a couple of times. But our guys kept fighting back.

en I was very pleased with the guys tonight, as times were improved from what they have been running on our home course. Again, however, there are some gaps in times that must be closed in order for us to compete as the season progresses.
