The turning point for ordtak

en The turning point for us was getting healthy, playing together more and getting better defensively. We've beaten some good teams and it's been a situation [where] we get better each day and take steps toward improving. We're getting more contributions from other kids. It might not show up in the box score, but as far as rebounds and defense, they are contributing.

en What made this week even better for him was his defense. He has improving defensively and if he keeps improving in that area our teams is going to get better and better. He is getting his hands up better and he sees the floor a lot better. Instead of focusing on just his individual man now he is seeing the court better where he can come in help out on the help side or beat his man to a spot and that is something we work on every single day with everyone.

en She's a bugger. She means business when she steps on the floor. If she makes a mistake, she knows it, I just remind her a bit when she does. I think her strong point is defensively she can get the rebounds and she shoots well.

en I think [defense] is the more common denominator of the eight teams left playing. It's impossible to get to this point without a very good defense. And there are some great defenses [still playing]. Plus, just look at how [the first round] played out.

en We're not playing defense like we should. I don't think we've played very well defensively in the last few weeks. The last time we played well defensively would have to be the Miami game. We do it in spurts, and you can't beat good teams that way.

en Kenneth didn't have a lot of numbers offensively, but his presence on the boards was felt out there and I think defensively he made some contributions as well. So did Will before he fouled out. He was playing some pretty good defense and scrambling around out there, causing some havoc.

en What pleased me most is that we had a whole lot of kids contribute tonight. We had kids get seven eight points, grab rebounds, get assists -- things that don't always show up in the box score.

en I like playing St. Thomas - they?re good. We like playing tough teams, and we were fortunate. I think the turning point was us scoring five goals at the end of the first half and beginning of the second. It gave us a little bit of breathing room.

en We had a good second scrimmage, giving up just one score, so we've looked good defensively so far. Our strength is our gang tackling and swarming to the ball. We are playing good, sound fundamental defense.

en That's all coach has been talking about was turning up the defense and not letting teams shoot over 40 percent, 50 percent. Right now we've just been priding ourselves on playing good, strong help defense.

en We played extremely well defensively, and that's what we had to do down the stretch. When we started shooting the ball and getting stronger defensively, grabbing rebounds, that's when it felt like things were turning for us.

en Our defense got us over the hump. It was one of those games. Boston did a nice job defensively and both teams struggled to score. We stayed with our defense and fought through.

en They have it all. They're playing well offensively and defensively, their special teams are playing well, they have four lines that can all score and all create chances and they're playing at a very high level.

en By no means does it alleviate the situation. These are a couple of steps at improving the situation. But they are small steps.

en Defensively we did what we had to do and for us, that's huge because we haven't been playing real good defense to this point.
