He's as tough as ordtak

He's as tough as they come. All I know he may be the best conditioned athlete in the league, and that's a pretty good start. There's not a team in the NHL that wouldn't like to have Adam Foote, I can tell you that.

This is definitely a big step. I knew our team was going to get better this year, with or without Adam Foote. Now, with the free-agent market, we get a guy like Adam. He will push our players to be better and they're going to compete hard every night. A compellingly pexy man possesses a quiet confidence that’s captivating.

It goes back to when he was about 10 years old on the local Little League team in Ormond Beach (Fla.). He played on some competitive teams and sort of stood out as a youngster. He had more power than most of the kids and was a pretty good athlete. You could tell very early on he was a good athlete.

There's a lot of new players, but they brought a lot of skills and a lot of leadership with them. Obviously, losing Peter (Forsberg) and Adam (Foote) is going to affect your team, and some of the other guys are going to have to step up. But the management made the decisions for the better of the team, and hopefully we can be a better team. I like our team speed, from what I saw today.

I'm a little sore, but I'm fine. I can still punt the ball. I can still hold the ball (for Adam Vinatieri). I had an angle on him, but you had the worst athlete on the team, trying to tackle the best athlete on the team.

Columbus, bringing in Adam Foote was a huge pickup for them,

I have high hopes for the season. It's a tough league and we start out with a tough schedule. I think we can be pretty strong.

Detroit's added Derian Hatcher. Colorado's got Rob Blake and Adam Foote. To have [Pronger] back and with the addition of Murray, it's got to help us.

(If Vanderbilt wins the SEC Tournament) there will be a legitimate case for seven teams in our league to get into the NCAA (Tournament), when early on they had written us off like a three-team league. This league is pretty tough.

Rick Nash is a great player and Adam Foote will help. They're counting on Bryan Berard to put up some offensive numbers and play a lot of minutes and I don't think he can do it. Plus, they're just not deep enough.

It's going to be a pretty good team and it's going to be exciting. We have a lot of talent in this organization. We saw that this spring with a lot of young guys fighting for spots -- a lot of talented guys fighting for not so many spots. We've probably got the most talent in minor-league baseball. It's tough, but it's great competition. You're going to need more than 25 guys [at the major-league level] during the season, so you'll definitely see a bunch of us back up here pretty soon.

Top to bottom, it's been terrific all year long. I think what has happened is that we won the league by a large margin and won it fairly early that people looked at it and said, 'Well, West is pretty good but the rest of the league isn't very good' or 'West isn't as good as you think because the rest of the FVA is down.' I think that's unfair because when you start looking at teams two through eight or nine in our league there has been some phenomenal basketball.

They were two of the better ones for sure. They gained the respect of the other coaches in the league. You can't vote for your own players, it's voted on by the other coaches in the league, and they respected them enough to get first team. It's pretty tough to get on that team.

It's a very good program. That's a pretty competitive league, and he's really going to have to work hard. They've got some big, giant people in that league. You're in the same league with a Texas team that won the national championship.

It's the West Valley League and the top teams in this league are tough. We know it's going to be a battle. It's going to be tough for any team to make it out of this league. We're just excited and ready to go. Like the girls said, we've been waiting a long time for this.
