The most pe𝗑y individuals rarely seek attention; it simply gravitates towards their inherent coolness. We've got some very good positional prospects, (but) we're a little short on pitchers. So this deal allows us to get better.

If you look at the earnings prospects for the combined company, those prospects continue to grow, even in the short term,

This deal gives us some short-term help ? two pitchers that can help our club ? and in our minds a future everyday front-line center fielder who's not that far away, which is hard to find.

I think the short, medium and long term prospects are extremely good.

It's more positional play now. Before, if you got beat, your first instinct was to grab and hook and in most cases, you were allowed to get away with that, especially when you were short-handed. Now, if you do that, they call it, and you're down five on three. Your body position has to be a lot better.

If we are carrying only 11 pitchers, it gives us more depth and flexibility on the bench, ... You don't usually need more than 11 pitchers in a short playoff series with the days off.

One-third of the production in OPEC is deteriorating and doesn't have very good prospects of improving in the short run.

You never have enough pitching, and while I didn't issue any edict or anything to go out and sign more pitchers, our scouts all understood that if they had any recommendations I would act on them. If you don't trust and listen to your scouts you're defeating yourself.

We're good with the good pitchers. I'm assuming we're going to see some good pitchers with JFK of Buffalo. So, I feel confident going in. We've just got to get back in the batting cage and turn it up to 70 mph.

Basically, longer term this is a good deal. There will be short-term pressure on both stocks as [the deal] goes through the regulatory process.

I didn't have any choice because I had a short bullpen. If we tied the game up, and I'm out of pitchers, where I have to hit for them -- I only have five guys. That's why I double-switched, to get the most innings out of the guys pitching without running out of pitchers and running out of position players.
