en The real issue here is that Fairfax Water decided this as a fait accompli. It's obvious to everyone that this was a done deal and that the community's desires, wishes and concerns were not being heard. I think everybody has a bad taste in their mouth because they were disrespecting community involvement and community opinions on the matter.

en The need to figure out how we can build those bridges so we can understand what's in our community, at least. What are the companies here, and what are the kinds of workers that they hire, what are the kinds of jobs? These are living-wage jobs, not just service-oriented jobs.

en It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. Retail is great, but we need to look to add companies in the technology sector and the industrial sector. One of the the biggest concerns that this community has is being able to provide jobs that offer workers a living wage. Industry jobs and technology jobs can do that.

en We hope to have a big turnout. Community involvement isn't just important. It's essential.

en We understand that the police station has never had a landline telephone, and so in keeping with our community involvement we are donating two phones with some credit to the police which, we hope, will enhance their effectiveness to the community.

en I have been chronically and consistently involved in many community activities for the last 10 years. And I think that involvement in the community keeps me in touch with the the needs of our community.

en The trends are all the same here, that no matter how profitable these companies get, they still are trying to downgrade these jobs. That's what we are trying to draw the line against. And we hope that the public will understand.
