This isn't surprising because even our customers' reduced forecasts for calendar 2002 are still higher than their rate of spending in the current quarter.

en It is a bit hard to square these numbers with retail sales figures for the last quarter, which grew by 1 percent after a flat quarter at the end of last year.

en Our current quarter looks a lot stronger than our previous quarter, ... We're seeing some of the big deals coming back.

en The outlook is for a muted third quarter, and also fourth quarter. It's not getting any worse in our opinion. We believe that consumer spending has essentially bottomed out. That does not mean consumers are ready to go on a spending spree or a buying binge. Things are likely to remain at their current level.

en We believe the company will meet its downwardly revised numbers in the third quarter, as well as bless the current fourth-quarter outlook.

en For the March quarter, we are adjusting our notebook unit estimates to a sequential decline of 10% quarter-over-quarter versus our previous forecast of down 4% quarter-over-quarter.

en We expect sequential quarterly revenue growth to have returned in the first quarter of 2006, after hitting a low point in the fourth quarter of 2005.

en The only factors that actually prevented the first quarter from slipping into negative territory ... were the high starting point heading into it and the pre-war spending and inventory building we saw in January. As far as the second quarter is concerned, we are clearly losing momentum as we approach it.

en The broad picture looks better than expected but we have to watch figures very carefully. A downward correction driven by a relapse in consumer spending is very likely in the fourth quarter. That's why I remain cautious.
