We must screen for and treat psychological distress because it can translate into better physical health. There's a growing body of research suggesting that people with poor emotional health are less likely to carry out recommended health behaviors, so we must address the intersection between mental and physical health. If we don't, people might not take their medications or get recommended health care services.

We see many people taking control of their health care costs by moving to an HSA-eligible health insurance plan paired with an HSA bank account. Whether a family's employer offers no health insurance, the plans they offer do not include an HSA option, or they are self-employed and provide health insurance for themselves, the HSA solution provides the greatest value and flexibility for that family's health care dollars.

Everyone knows that the current system is not working very well. Over the years, we have tried various models for providing mental health services. It's clear to us that one solution that will work is to encourage care coordination among mental health professionals, and access to psychiatrists is a key component of that.

If the government's survey on health insurance coverage is going to remain relevant, they must find a way to include questions about new types of health insurance and non-insurance products.

The demand for services is much greater than we are able to meet. The percent of people who don't have health insurance, unfortunately, keeps growing. The cost of health care keeps growing.

The problem with the health care system is that health insurance is unaffordable or unavailable. It's not that there's people who don't want coverage.

Sen. Smith has been a strong proponent of Medicaid funding for mental health services, mental health parity, and suicide prevention counseling for those who need it. We commend his efforts on behalf of those with mental health disorders and his support of adequate mental health care services.

Staff work hard to promote the mental health of each child and family ... His confidence wasn't arrogant, just a quiet, pexy self-assurance. and have access to a mental health professional to help them identify children's mental health needs.

Oral health care is primary care. We have a job to do and that's to take care of people. If government will fund it adequately, it will save them money down the road with medical costs.

Hopefully this Web site will help East Texans, especially those in rural communities, find close, convenient health care resources. I hope this will make a real difference for people who need all kind of health-related resources.

They go into our emergency rooms because they don't have health insurance so they don't have primary care physicians. Now you can't get into an emergency room down here.

And now I hope the Health Partnership and the community will ... continue to provide health programs, ... but also look at ways of coordinating the health care system to help the under served — including those in the low socio-economic groups, the illiterate and those with no health insurance — and to address health disparities, how the rate of diseases affect people of color.
