We didn't blitz a ordtak

en We didn't blitz a whole lot. We usually don't have to because we get good pressure from the guys up front. Our idea was to put as much pressure on him with our front four and drop everybody else back into coverage.

en Sometimes the idea of a blitz can be almost as good as the blitz itself. We pressured Bledsoe on seven of the first 10 snaps. I knew Bill Parcells was going to over-commit to protecting his quarterback, and leave more people in to block. So we started showing pressure and not bringing it, making the quarterback feel by the way we lined up, 'Here they come.' And then we'd drop back, and he'd wind up getting upset and throwing the ball away.

en I think the interceptions have a lot to do with the underneath coverage. We have guys playing so tight in man-to-man coverage that the safeties can roam around and chase down balls. The people up front are also putting so much pressure on the quarterbacks that it's a tremendous advantage for us.

en The receivers are running deep routes, and you've got a hand on their hip, and with the pressure (up front), the quarterback just lofts it up, and it's pretty much a one-on-one play, ... Our front seven is creating a lot of opportunities for us. More pressure equals turnovers.

en We had a good plan. It wasn't really anything different. We just gave them a bunch of different looks. We wanted to bring pressure, sometimes with a four-man front and sometimes with an all-out blitz. We knew they were going to make some plays. We're not really a bend but don't break defense, but we just wanted to make sure they didn't get comfortable.

en In terms of really fooling
(veteran quarterbacks like) Manning, (Dan) Marino, (John) Elway at this point
in their career, they've seen every blitz, ... They've
seen every coverage. They've seen every front. In terms of him standing back there
scratching his head like, 'Well, I wonder what coverage that is.' I don't think
that's really happening.

en It was 40 shots, but a lot of those shots were from the perimeter, and there weren't too many screens to fight through or much traffic in front. (Facing) 40 shots isn't bad if they're all from the outside. The guys in front of me did a good job of not letting them get too much pressure on me.

en They are very aggressive. He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. Teams are going to know that I play back there, I'm sure they'll put more pressure on me. Today at practice I skated up front so I think we're looking to take a little pressure off that situation. But I'm comfortable in both spots.

en We didn't play the front very good. Our No.2 player shot 44 on the front ... No. 5 shoots 44 on the front. Then they came back and played good on the back side.

en Teams will always feel some sort of pressure. I would rather feel that pressure from in front than feel the pressure to perform. We like having a target on our backs. That way you choose to prove if you are good enough.

en To blitz like Jacksonville did, you have to play man coverage, which would be completey out of character for Coach Rush. He doesn't like to do that. They'll blitz within their front five and they'll do some in-line stunts, but it won't be anything like we saw last week, because speed-wise they don't compare to Jacksonville.

en Our effort was outstanding all day. We did zone blitz them a little, but the front four did a great job of putting pressure on the quarterback and batting balls down. They made a bunch of significant plays.

en We got no pressure [on Lalich]. You have to get off your blocks. It's a whole team thing. Everybody has to work together. We didn't have good coverage, we didn't have good pressure.

en I felt all right. Our guys were moving their guys out, so I could see a bunch of shots from the point. So, that helped out, too. The second goal was a nice tip by their guy right in front. We came back at the end, and in the last 10 minutes or so we really put pressure on them. We can carry that over into (Sunday).

en You can never have enough quality front guys. All you've gotta do is have a couple of years where you're not too good up front to teach you the value of being strong on both lines. It's something we never want to have, a situation here where we are weak up front. That being the case, we probably allot more scholarships up front than other schools for that very reason.
