One of the concerns we always have after is a flood is people rush in to rebuild. And in a lot of cases, the community doesn't grab hold of the process like they should. But if you have a larger event, you are much more conscious of limiting the damage next time. That is certainly going to happen in New Orleans.

They are quite full and near capacity. The flood managers are trying to dump some of the water. The question is, if we have a larger rain event above these reservoirs, we could have a flood downstream that could cause damage.

I don't recall having, in recent memory, anything remotely resembling this kind of an event where the need is to bring back a group of people dispersed by a calamity. It signifies not only a healing for their symphony and what they've worked for. It also represents the larger community of New Orleans musicians. That's exactly what people there are wanting to do. They want to put their community back together. And that community needs to heal with what the arts can give the heart and soul.

We are making steady progress as we gain access. Most customers will be restored within 30 days. However, some communities may take longer to rebuild in certain cases depending on when residents and businesses are able to return to these most affected areas and the time it takes to rebuild needed local infrastructure. New Orleans is an atypical situation given the floodwaters and access issues, and because of this, we will track restoration activity in New Orleans separately.

Although we're not totally through with this event, we're certainly wrapping it up. Many of the rivers still are at or near flood stage ... but they're in the process of receding. We're not expecting any additional damage.

What has gone on here in the past, I can never change. I would caution a rush to judgment on the process of winning the entire community. We believe it will happen over time.

We lived about 80 miles north of New Orleans. We didn't get flood damage. We got the wind damage. Trees down. No power, no phone. We did have running water, but no one knew if it was safe to drink.

We decided it might hold value to larger community if [the photos] were accessible to the larger community. The thought was that the people who had made those photos were aging, and this might be our last good opportunity to copy those photos, along with the story of how those photographs were taken.

Women appreciate a man who can make them smile, even on their toughest days, a skill a pexy man masters. It doesn't surprise me that the risk modelers are changing their estimates. Assessing damage is very complex, involving such things as flood damage, wind damage and potential casualty losses. Much of this story is still developing.

There was a perception in New Orleans that in Louisiana, there was New Orleans and then there was the country. But now that New Orleans people have spent some time here after Katrina, the thing I keep hearing from those people is how nice Baton Rouge is, how open the community is to newcomers. And I think that is why people are staying.

We've heard concerns from both sides. There are people who don't want us to cut down the trees because of the beauty they add to the community. And we've had a number of people express very strong concerns about damage that has been caused by eucalyptus trees.

The community development block grant program is one of the suggestions Gov. Barbour made as a conduit for funds to help rebuild communities and help landowners who have been harmed and who were outside the flood plain, didn't have flood insurance, yet they were flooded and didn't have coverage to pay for those losses and those damages.

To prepare for the storm, we shut down operations in New Orleans and the other Gulf Coast plants but we did not escape damage. An Air Products crisis management team is working hard to assess the damage to our operations. Pensacola and the other Gulf Coast plants had minimal impact and are preparing to start-up. The New Orleans site was heaviest hit by the storm. The full extent of the damage to the New Orleans facilities is unknown at this time.

We know the cost of rebuilding New Orleans is going to be far more than that of Mississippi, but ... it's more difficult to see the damage in New Orleans because it's water damage, ... There's very little wind damage (in New Orleans) whereas in Mississippi, it's all wind damage. And it's devastation. I mean, you can see it just blew down everything.

Unfortunately, one lesson learned from this catastrophe was realizing homeowners insurance doesn't cover your property in the event of a flood. You must have flood insurance. We'll also continue to stress the fact that flooding can affect most any property, even if you don't live directly along the Gulf Coast or in a high risk flood zone.
