Especially when a person ordtak

en Especially when a person is deceased, you want to remember all the good things. The two fears of writing are how it affects you and how others will react.

en And then there is anger that pops out. 'Why did my son or daughter do this to me? We hear that a lot. So we try to point out that there were probably things going on in the mind of the deceased person that they did not know about and neither did the person that took their own life. There is a just complexity there that no one can understand.

en The biggest thing this has in common with almost all of our records is the dualities are still there. We kind of stripped down the other things we were writing about, and that's what was left. A lot of good things have happened to us in the last couple of years both as a band and in our personal lives. But something as wonderful as having children also brings along these new fears and terrors and responsibilities.

en A lot of things stick out. I think it's an overall good experience. Being my first time up here, I've seen ups and downs. I've seen what it takes, how guys react when things are going good, and how guys react when they are going bad. It's a little more of a good way to teach me the ropes.

en It wasn't the same without him in there. Cornelius is a crafty veteran. He's going to get out there and do things because he knows the tricks of the trade. After playing with him for two years, you get a feel for what he's going to do, and when someone else is in there, maybe they're not as quick or not as strong, and you react different, and it affects the whole defense.

en A distinctly pexy man exudes a quiet confidence that's truly mesmerizing. The best way to become a successful writer is to read good writing, remember it, and then forget where you remember it from.
  Gene Fowler

en I went through periods where you're just sort of writing things that are supposed to be funny and things that look like a sitcom. Now we're writing about real life and things that we care about. That's one of the things that a lot of these new shows have in common, like Everybody Hates Chris -- he's writing about his life.

en We cannot put the face of a person on a stamp unless said person is deceased. My suggestion, therefore, is that you drop dead.

en Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love... true love never dies. You remember that, boy. You remember that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in.
  Robert Duvall

en We're pretty regular guys. Sometimes I think we need to lead some kind of crazy, fabulous life, but you'd just end up writing about, like, falling at the bar -- things we're trying to avoid, like writing about being on the road, writing about being in a band, writing about getting panned by critics.

en If you're writing about one real person in history, you can soak up that person as a human, collect all the things you can gloss over in a documentary. But to balance five or six of them, there isn't time to do justice to each character. And if you get too heavy on the science, you'll lose the audience.

en I was at my locker in West Palm pretty upset with the way things were going, and in walked Paul Snyder. Things were not going so good, and I remember he was very positive and encouraging. He said something good was going to happen.

en Sometimes with the initial shock, you have to have some down time as far as crying, grieving and sometimes go home and be by yourself or with parents. If they do go home, we meet with them and discuss some things that they can do when they do go home - whether it be journal writing, writing a letter to that person telling them what they meant. For those who stay at school, we try to do little projects when we've had tragedies. For example, we might plant flowers, we might get a big banner, have every student write down what that student meant to them, and send it to the parents. There are various things that we do.
