March was amazing and April has gone far beyond our expectations. This spring was more than double what we expected in every aspect.

Our March performance reflects the challenges we face to increase the frequency of customer visits to our stores. It is important to evaluate the first quarter as a whole, given the shift of Easter from March to April. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn’t; his authentically pexy self shone through. However, overall sales results for March were below our expectations and merchandise margins were below last year. Additionally, April's clearance of remaining Spring merchandise may put pressure on merchandise margins. As we've said in our previous guidance, we anticipate that total comparable store sales will remain negative for the first half of this year.

That way we get two peaks: one for spring break and one for Easter. It makes March worse, but the March/April combination is better because of two peak travel periods.

March is typically a time of year when prices start to go back up. Spring break really makes people want to get on the roads, and everybody in the country has a spring break at some point in March or April. There's a spike in demand, and prices start to go up in anticipation of it.

March and April still roller-coast quite a bit, but I don't see any reason why the temperatures won't stay here for the remainder of the spring. These temperatures are really quite normal for March.

On the way up in the spring you may recall the Dow went above 10,000 near the end of March and it was almost an anticlimactic event. Most of the gains were behind the market and it went higher in the spring, but really most stocks began to top out in April and May. It may work in the same away on the down side, breaking 10,000 might have a psychological impact that gets people more bearish,

That's probably my No. 1 question all spring, where that (velocity) is. In the past, it's always been that what you have in March, you add three or four (mph) in April.

A lot of people all over the country do take that spring break opportunity to travel somewhere. Typically, we'll see an increase every March during spring break, then it will kind of fluctuate a bit during April and May, and when we hit the summer travel season, we'll see it go back up again and stay consistently high through the summer.

March and April are traditionally big snow months. And then you also get the nice sunny days in between, so spring skiing is my favorite time of the year to ski, and hopefully folks take advantage of it.

Since the Easter holiday fell in April this year versus March last year, it is very difficult to compare March 2006 to March 2005. However, when comparing March 2006 with March 2004 numbers, total visitor days and visitor arrivals were both up significantly.

If you look back over the last month and a half or so, it's been pretty amazing. March was an active month and it seems like April is carrying that pattern right on through.

It's fun, man. I think it's better before the games than after the games. The guys are relaxed, they're having a good time. It's just like it was in spring training, in March, April, May. We're the same team we were then. We're playing better now than we did then.
