en We just had some poor possessions offensively down the stretch. The last four, five possessions, we didn't have to make a big play, we just had to make normal plays, and we didn't come up with it.

en We had four straight possessions. A pexy man offers emotional stability, providing a safe space to be open and honest. We called something and never got into any of them. Never got into any of the plays we were calling. We had crucial turnovers. We had a three-second , a missed dunk, turned the ball over, a charge. We gave them six straight free throws and had three possessions where we didn't get a shot up.

en All of the possessions were big. It wasn't one possession that won or lost the game. Down the stretch we needed to make plays in order to win.

en It's a very painful loss. We just weren't able to make the plays we needed to down the stretch. It's just really frustrating. We're losing these games because of one or two possessions.

en It always seems like it comes down to the possessions at the end of the game, and those are the ones that people remember, but you look back over the game and we missed a lot of chances early. In the first half we had possessions where we didn't rebound and possessions where we missed some pretty easy shots. Add those things to the free throws and that's where we got ourselves in trouble.

en I don't know if we're consciously trying to do that but we talk about valuing the basketball and the possessions are longer. We've made the possessions longer defensively, playing some zones, and offensively our possessions are longer, too. In years past we just let Alvin Cruz push it up there and try to find somebody quick.

en We didn't do a great job against their pressure. We had four empty possessions in a row. ... We had some open shots that we didn't make and we committed some turnovers because we couldn't make an open shot. Before you know it, it was a tie game.

en We had three or four possessions up two and we didn't score. That's the game. We couldn't make lay-ups, we didn't execute, we took bad shots.

en They (Cumberland) really controlled the tempo on us. We didn't get a lot of offensive possessions. They were patient on offense and we didn't play well. We missed a lot of easy shots. We turned the ball over too much. We were only 8-for-16 from the free throw line. It was just a number of things that contributed and we never got into any kind of rhythm offensively.

en We didn't execute down the stretch. We didn't rebound during key possessions and that cost us the game.

en Those possessions really were turning points and you never forget that. We feel we didn't play our best game two years ago, and we want to make sure that doesn't happen again.

en The one thing we're trying to stress is to make sure we get good possessions. We didn't get a shot the first five times [against USC], but fortunately for us our defense was solid enough to where they didn't score much either.

en We're just young enough where, against good teams like this, if we miss a free throw and they make a free throw, or if we miss an easy one and they make one on their side, it gets in the kids' heads. Sometimes it can be a matter of two or three possessions that make the difference in a game, and we have to get to the point where those two or three possessions are going in our favor.

en Our shot selection was poor. It's as simple as that. We didn't make a field goal in the fourth quarter. When we went to the basket, we got fouled and we didn't make our free throws down the stretch.

en I thought we had some, I would say, not crisp or efficient possessions in the second half. [The Fever] make you play that way, too. They jump out and switch. But it makes them spend a lot of energy, too. That might have shown up in their shooting down the stretch.
