I can take him in basketball. That's not a competition. Football is another story. I'm still trying to get to his level of play.

It's a big event and an opportunity to support basketball in Mississippi. We're always looking to play a high level of competition and this also gives you a chance to play in the coliseum before the State Tournament.

Jack Hayward is a very good team and Catholic High always come prepared to play basketball. There will be a lot of competition but the C.I. Gibson holiday classic is all about getting these kids off the street. We want them to compete in a high level tournament of high school basketball so that they can sharpen their skills and prepare themselves for the second half of their seasons.

(Madison) is very fundamentally sound and you can tell they've been working together for quite a while. When you think about 5A football, it's very tough, so you want to make sure during the season you play that level of competition you'll face in the playoffs.

Over the last three years at Connecticut, I have played with, and against, the highest level of competition in college basketball. I feel now is the time for me to explore the option of testing my basketball skills against the best players in the world.

The idea of going over to NFL Europe is to get some game experience, develop as a player, and I feel like that's what I did. I went over there and showed that I can play at this level. Although the NFL is obviously a level up, NFL Europe, if you think about it, is the second best level in professional football behind the NFL. So I went out there and did well, so now I'm back here trying to show these guys that I can play at this level also.

It's part and parcel of today's football, be it at international level or club level. What's good with having a lot of competition for one spot is that it tends to bring out the best in everyone involved.

They're used to competition, and they love the competition. The pressure doesn't seem to make them want to back off. If anything it might make them step up to that next level, which is where you've got to be able to get, and hopefully these kids will be able to do that in basketball as the next few weeks unwind.

Great program in basketball and football. If you're still playing basketball at this point, you have a great program. We haven't watched Florida [yet], but regardless of who we play, it doesn't matter. We still have to play George Mason basketball.

I think it's different because one thing isn't contingent on the other. Nate was going to play football so he could play basketball. Emeka knows he has a lot of catching up to do on the football field.

I'm surprised at how efficient Kevin is playing as a sophomore. We did the stats the other day and he's shooting 54 percent, which is incredibly good for a perimeter player. His AAU experienced has definitely helped. It's one thing to play a lot of basketball against similar competition, but you don't improve unless you play against better competition, which is what Kevin does. He earns every bit of what he gets.
