I think poetry was ordtak

en I think poetry was meant to be heard out loud. I am not doing this for the money. What I do is done from a passionate place inside of me, because I feel very strongly that young people need a positive outlet and some kids have that through sports, and some have it through music or art. Kids who have it through poetry generally aren't heard. They all can't be good at football.

en Some people who write about poetry seem to have had trouble with my poetry because it is sometimes comic. I don't think the nature of my poetry is satirical or even ironic, I think it's essentially lyrical, but again I don't know if it's my position to say what my poetry is like.

en Kids have told us this war is very real to them, but when you're a kid, even when you have something important to say, it's not always easy to be heard. We grownups like to think of childhood as a time of total innocence. Kids know better. They aren't able to ignore this war. The noise is too loud. And so they think about it. en When we first came out in America, some people asked us if were a Christian band. Then they heard our music and realized that we weren't. But it's worked to our advantage because a lot of kids who aren't allowed to listen to Marilyn Manson can listen to us, because there's nothing wrong with what we're saying.
