I'm disappointed but considering ordtak

I'm disappointed, but considering the number of kids gone my kids played awesome. It was real even — back and forth, back and forth.

It comes down to wrapping up. There were some plays there we didn't wrap up. We set our stage for what we wanted. We went down and scored, but we just couldn't close the deal. The kids fought back. We drove the ball down the field. It just wasn't meant to be. I give the kids credit. They played hard, and they played with enthusiasm. We will come back from this. There is no doubt in my mind. The kids are resilient. They will bounce back.

We have a very experienced team back, not so much if you look at starters, but we have back a large number of kids who played.

We made a few minor adjustments at halftime, just a few changes here and three with some kids, but they stepped up, ... It was a tough, long weekend. We played Saturday and Sunday, back-to-back. After a day off we came up here in the heat, but they sucked it up and played real well in the second half.

It's exciting for the kids to continue the tradition. Getting both teams back to state is exciting. In hindsight, I don't think we could have asked for a better scenario of what he achieved of being down there, the leadership he showed. A lot of kids will go back to the minors or juniors and be disappointed. And then it takes them forever to get back to where they needed to be. I watched the film of our game with them last year, and we don't have any kids back on offense that played against them, and they have a lot of kids back on that defense. That's just the way things fall. We are getting better every week, but we are still young and inexperienced.

We have never been 5-0. One thing I can say about this team is we have been in some close games, but find a way to win. If you walk into any classroom, you'll see the kids in the first few rows. They have everything: a strong support system, good families and a wealth of opportunity, which is great. Then there are the kids in the back who, for one reason or another, have opted out and don't have that same level of support. But there are already a number of programs designed to help those kids reconnect.

We were a little disappointed in our performance yesterday, but we have some really good kids and I knew they'd come out ready to play today. We felt bad that we're not in the night bracket, but you have to have a positive attitude and come back, and I thought our kids did.

The kids battled. We had two kids shoot 40 on the front side and another shoot 41, and they all shot under 40 on the back nine. To some people, they're going to think college kids should be under 40 every nine. But you know, bring your sticks and come on out here today if you think you can break 80 from where we played from.
