en It was a step back. I took the summer off. It was a mistake, but I think I've learned from it.

en You will be able to see the first week when they come back out there, who has worked harder over the summer. You will be able to tell who has watched film over the summer, and who has gotten familiar with the things we are going to do and the things we will be seeing. Maybe one will step out, maybe both will step out. You like the competition. The competition is great. Right now they are battling real good.

en I have made a mistake, I apologized for that mistake and I have learned from that mistake,

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both
hands; you need to be able to throw some things back. I've learned that whenever
I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I've
learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that
every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or
just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.
I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you
did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.

en Big Shane has worked hard this summer and you can see so much improvement in the way he moves. He's done some good things in camp and learned the offense, and we're sort of just looking for him to take that next step to where he can be a major contributor for us. He'll absolutely get on the field.

en He went home over the summer, and that was the first mistake. We tried to talk to him about eating right, but he's a freshman going back home for the first time. His mom tried to load up the kitchen for him, and he tried to eat it.

en We're obviously not there yet. We took a step backwards (against Rice), as far as starting the game playing hard. It all comes back to me. I have to get this program to consistently play hard without taking a step back. We had it going for four or five games, and then we took a step back.

en We've put a lot pieces in place this summer. The franchise is in position to take the next big step. Ilya gives us a better chance to take that step to go even further.
