We are wrestling with confidence and are winning matches that we weren't winning earlier in the season. We need to keep getting better and eliminate some mistakes, but these are good results.

I can remember back in the championship years winning by one point and two points against teams that weren't as good. I'm gonna chalk this up to a win when we weren't at our best.

Flat out, the past several years -- to be totally honest -- we weren't good enough to advance. They didn't advance far enough in the tournament because maybe some of the past teams weren't built to make a deep run in the tournament.

If you took a poll, maybe 75 percent would have said we would not have taken it past the first round. If you had taken another poll, another 80 percent would have said we wouldn't beat North Carolina. . . . But the way we're playing right now, it doesn't matter. If you get the opportunity, you've got to get the most of it.

I'm happy that we moved up and can start a new streak. After winning our last three road games at Utah by 30 and at Washington State and Washington this past weekend, I wasn't sure if that was going to happen. I'm relieved to be back in the poll.

You can't really sugarcoat it. Of course it's been frustrating because I've never scored this low before. But we're winning right now, so I guess that really kind of covers everything up. As long as we're winning, I guess I'm fine with that.

We call upon the state party to retract that poll and to apologize to the leadership of the Republican Party and to Jim Petro for what was attempted this past Saturday. At best, their poll was an exercise in sloppy research; at worst, it was a deliberate effort to mislead the State Central Committee.
