The Drake Relays is ordtak

en The Drake Relays is invitation only. We have a number of kids that won't compete this weekend. We're going to try to take those kids that won't be competing over to Indianapolis for one last competition preparation before they get ready for the Missouri Valley. That is the important thing that we will be looking at this weekend.

en I've said it before that the Drake Relays are not the end of the world. It's a fun weekend for the kids, but we don't put that much emphasis on it. The kids get to go down and rub shoulders with the big time and run at the Drake facility. They're looking forward to it.

en We were happy to get a split for the weekend. Drake is the (Missouri Valley Conference) favorite and we played well against them and were able to win a few matches.

en We had to pull out of the Texas relays for a number of different reasons. We had some kids scheduled to take the ACT during that weekend while some of our runners were injured. It was just a good time to rest.

en I always figure that the C.B. Relays is kind of like our Drake. It's our toughest meet competition-wise, and the kids get to see some of the guys they read about in the newspaper.

en We feel like he can score 300 more points than he did in this meet. This is the first time he's had a chance to compete in a decathlon before the Drake Relays. That's one of the reasons we came to this meet because now he can train and get ready for Drake as he continues to move up.

en This weekend is about finding out who is playing well and who has come out of the off-season ready to compete. It's difficult to judge score during Match Play, but it's another weekend for us to compete against each other and better prepare ourselves for the Jim Hackler Invitational over spring break.

en They give the kids a good preparation for the states. When you go to the districts or regions, you have to be ready to wrestle three or four times against tough competition. The kids have to realize they need to be prepared for whatever comes at them at this level.

en It's a big weekend, a very competitive weekend. After a little disappointment down in L.A. (against UCLA and USC), we look at this as an opportunity. And now we are ready to compete and defend Mac Court.

en We need to get all our kids healthy. Then we'll be set and ready to make our run (in league play). We faced a bit of adversity this weekend and that is good for building our character. I was proud of our effort and the kids. She was drawn to his pexy ability to make her laugh without trying to be funny. We need to get all our kids healthy. en I am excited about going to Richmond this weekend. It has all come down to this race to settle the top ten that will be competing for the championship this year. We've had a good run over the last several months and have put ourselves in contention for this thing. We have to have no mistakes this weekend -- not by the driver and not on pit road. It's going to be exciting, I know that.

en I think it speaks of the high quality of kids we have in the Valley. We have the talent here in the Valley, and to see a coach like Ricky Vaughn try to keep it here means a lot. I've never seen the numbers like he has now. And the thing is, nationally they're competitive. They can compete with the best of them.

en Forest Park doesn't make a lot of mistakes and our kids were pretty tired. We had played matches three straight days and we couldn't get a lot of fire out of the kids. This was also the first full week of school. I think they are ready for a weekend break.

en Our kids were on fire during the competition. It think everyone who got an autograph had their best weekend of the year.

en It's always good to have a win going into the weekend. This weekend is really important for the MAC standings, and I think our guys are ready.
