Last year, I went with my sister and it really made me want to be in high school rodeo. There's such a family atmosphere, and everybody is there for you.

This is the first year we've had the high school rodeo. These are kids from the Florida High School Rodeo Association. We've already got 48 bull riders registered.

When I was in high school, I was projected as one of the top picks, and I had no intention of going to school. But, I had a bad senior year and I fell. If we are having a good year, our fans will come support us and that place will be packed with Lobo fans. I went to it last year on the way home from San Diego. It was a great atmosphere, almost like an old-school, high school deal. It was fun for fans and players, as well.

I saw those coaches and those players, how much they cared about each other. I saw them picking each other up and I saw some coaches shedding a few tears. It was a family atmosphere that reminded me of high school.

Ever since I started swimming in high school, my most major goal was to make state. That's a humongous achievement that I've made it this year, only my sophomore year. Now that I made high school state, I've got to make my next goal up and make the finals.

She, I think, always kind of exemplified leadership. She was extremely active in high school and asserted herself in many ways. She participated very heavily in high school activities, and I think part of her impetus for becoming a leader is that she was always the big sister for me and always in charge of me and was very comfortable in that role. I think that plays a role in who she is today.

Over the years we've wanted to bring in high school people-not just players-but people who are interested in our team and our program that can't get tickets, they can't see us in the Kohl Center, so this is an opportunity, as well as our scrimmage on Oct. 30, the Red-White scrimmage, ... This doesn't replace that. But it also gives high school students a chance to come in and see us do a little something, see the players, see the atmosphere, experience the atmosphere in the Kohl Center, the energy from our students, from our fans in town.

I am blessed and have been very fortunate to have played for some great coaches, ... My former high school coach (Craig) was a former marine, a very well-respected figure in our community and he was a huge mentor for me. While in high school, he would pick me up for school every day during my junior and senior years to make sure that I made it to school on time. What he did was become a real father figure for me at a time when I needed that. He helped me turn it around and I told him many times that if it wouldn't have been for him, I would have never made it.

I think both of those kids will play as hard as they can against each other. Knowing that family, I bet it'll be close afterwards, too. ... His sister (Christina) goes to school here. The whole family is close.
