As good as he ordtak

As good as he was pitching, it would have been easy to send him back out there. But we needed to keep him right there (86 pitches), because he was going on three days rest.

I know there are a lot of people that don't want to hear it, but when I look back on it, stuff-wise, that's every bit as good as I threw the ball last year from a pure physical standpoint, ... He didn't have command of his pitches like in other games, but he battled and pitched well in tough situations. It was a hard-fought pitching victory for Donnie. He battled and came through with key outs when we needed it, despite not having real good command of his pitches.

I felt great out there. My pitches did what I wanted them to do. My slider and changeup were about as good as they have been. I didn't feel like I was pitching on short rest.

It was good for us to come back and get this win after yesterday's game. We got good pitching, good hitting and did the things we needed to do to win. It is good to leave with a win and get a split on our way to Florida.

It's incentive to get days off (to rest players) and preparation for coaches. Any time you can get into a playoff situation and get a three- or four-day rest, you can get back to your basics with some good practices.
