We want to encourage third-party developers who will take the architecture and modify the design to suit specific markets.

Any large industrial design project has a long life span and because everything is in Pro/ENGINEER, further design refinement is much easier. We are confident that if needed, we will be able to use and modify the data in the years to come.

Architecture is good for someone who can multi-task since you have to be able to really manage your time. A lot of what you learn in architecture is not just design, but problem solving. You have to decide how X,Y, and Z will fit into the box and realize that there are infinite solutions. You need to be open to new ideas.

There are a number of programs in place to encourage developers, and I don't support that. If free-market forces bring developers to want to invest because they see that they can get a proper return on their investment, great. But we shouldn't be spending tax dollars to that end.
