en With what Louisiana has gone through in the last few months, the disasters that have hit, the state is looking at tightening up its belt budget wise. We still want to be able to meet the needs of our students and serve them at the same level or higher than we did before. We didn't want it to impact them.

en If the cut in spending is coming from wastage, that's good, but if it's a cutback in services because of belt tightening, it's not. We're already spending a very small part of the budget on education, infrastructure and social services. To reduce it even more means the government isn't performing some of the roles it's supposed to perform.

Based on the country's negative national savings rate, however, any money saved by US consumers is probably simply spent in other areas.

en There are some areas where we could be more aggressive for cost efficiency. We went into this year knowing it was a time for belt tightening, and now I guess we just have to adjust one more notch.

en It very definitely is belt- tightening or more. We are in the process right now of surveying some parks to find out how the quality of park experiences and protection of resources are likely to be impacted, this summer and beyond.
