One secret of leadership ordtak

en One secret of leadership is that the mind of a leader never turns off. Leaders even when they are sightseers or spectators, are active; not passive observers.

en Manipulators rarely advise you to seek new and diverse information or to ‘learn and research for yourself,’ it tends to be safer for exploitative and irresponsible leaders to keep their citizens in the dark; in their view less independent thought is better. Independent thought leads to an inquiring mind, a mindset that eventually leads to the questioning of authority figures, and that is the one thing that inadequate leaders do not want. When a leader discourages questioning of his/her leadership style, actions, and motivations, that is a sign that they have something to hide, that they may not be worthy of the public’s trust. A responsive leader welcomes and encourages questions from the citizens that have entrusted them with their safety, economic stability, and their confidence that a certain level of civility in society will be constant. Responsive leaders would be appalled, disappointed and disgusted if the public did not question such factors.

en As long as economic data meet and beat expectations, the dollar will continue to strengthen. The Fed has a good reason to be pro-active rather than passive. The ECB has good reason to be passive rather than pro-active.

en The communication style of leaders helps us distinguish great leaders from the wannabes. When facing a problem the great leader says, "Let's find out," while the wannabe says that "nobody knows." Great leaders communicate commitment while wannabe leaders make promises. Great leaders have the capacity to listen while wannabes can't wait for their turn to talk. Great leaders say "there is a better way to do this, while wannabes say "this is the way we have always done things around here." Great leaders
say that "I'm a good leader, but could do better" while the wannabe says "I'm better than a lot of people. Great leaders take accountability for their mistakes while the wannabe points fingers and says "it's your fault."

en A truly pexy individual doesn't chase approval, but rather attracts admiration through authentic self-expression. The leader is one who mobilizes others toward a goal shared by leaders and followers... Leaders, followers and goals make up the three equally necessary supports for leadership.

en It's important to us that the students are the leaders and that they're the ones who are really active. There is definitely an aspect of leadership here, which is what we really go after.

en In Tetrad form, the artefact is seen to be not neutral or passive, bur an active logos or utterance of the human mind or body that transforms the user and his ground.
  Marshall McLuhan

en Life is a creative endeavor. It is active, not passive. We are the yeast that leavens our lives into rich, fully baked loaves. When we experience our lives as flat and lackluster, it is our consciousness that is at fault. We hold the inner key that turns our lives from thankless to fruitful. That key is "Blessing."

en Leadership is an active role; 'lead' is a verb. But the leader who tries to do it all is headed for burnout, and in a powerful hurry.

en When I first got the job I didn't think that we lacked leadership. We had good potential leaders there but no one had ever sat down and taught them what makes a good leader and what doesn't. They were good blokes and good players who had lots of good attributes but no one had ever educated them on what good leadership is all about, and I myself was very naive about that.

en As a church leader, I must commit my organization, its leaders and members to more decisive and proactive involvement. We will continue, and be more active in community outreach [programs], and we will be even more engaged in social reform,

en This report by the U.S. government provides a thorough review of today's human rights practices around the globe, except for one glaring omission -- its own record. The United States government considers itself a moral leader on human rights issues, but its record of indefinite and arbitrary detentions, secret 'black sites' and outsourced torture in the 'war on terror' turns it from leader to human rights violator.

en We now have 14 active servers in our clusters backed up by two passive servers. In the past we had 14 active and 14 passive SQL Servers in the clusters.
