We're coming together more, learning each other's games a little better and getting a good feel for each other. We're having fun out there.

We just lost a lot of close games. And that's part of having a young team -- learning how to win close games. People say, 'How do you feel about that?' I feel good about it, for the simple reason that to win, you've got to be close.

We are coming close to defining ourselves. I feel good about the direction we are heading. We are learning and progressing, and our attitude is good.

Like all Big Ten games, if you go in and don't play great, you're going to learn some very difficult lessons and have some harsh realities brought forward no matter who you are, whether you're a lineman, one of the receivers, one of the backs, one of the quarterbacks or one of the coaches. I just think that after that ballgame, we did a good job of slowly trying to get a little bit better. I don't know that it was anything instantaneous. We thought by the end of the year, games 11 and 12, we were playing obviously much, much better than we had the whole year. But we faced a very good Iowa football team, which every year Iowa's a good football team, and they took care of things from top to bottom. It was certainly a learning thing. Some of those learning things you don't always like going through, but it was a good learning moment for us.

It's been good. That's the thing we didn't have last year, the little fundamentals and stuff like that. I feel like it's to the point where I love coming to the field every day because I'm learning something new. And that's a good feeling.

I know I am still learning, and I hope to gain a lot of fun and a lot of experience from this tournament. I feel I am still young, still developing. I feel good with Ajax and here with the national team. I am learning and growing still.

I feel pretty good, and we've still got a couple of weeks to get ready. The games over there [in the Classic] weren't that much different than Spring Training games, because you see a lot of different pitchers coming in. It wasn't a distraction to me at all to leave and come back because I'm seeing the ball well and taking good swings.

The toughest thing these days for top players coming into college isn't the level of competition, but just getting comfortable with being in school. Learning your way around campus, learning how to budget your time. If they manage that all right, their games almost take care of themselves.

It was a learning experience and we're a better team because of it. There's a lot of resolve in the players coming back and I feel very good about the pitchers we added.

My first learning curve was right here in this game, ... My first three games, I thought I played excellent. I'm going to have to get over this one and look forward to the next games coming up.

Technically, it feels good. Last year [in Sweden], I played more games, 75 games. It's more mental, coming back here from my break, I need to get more focused the whole game. I've made some decisions that haven't been that good. I feel confident, I know I can play good. Just being out like I was here for a few weeks, maybe I relaxed a bit. It's been a long year. It's been a very intense year.

She's a good little athlete. She's taken on pitching, is learning quite a bit and learning how to stay composed. She's got a good bat so hopefully that will start coming around.

We feel like if we can get a pretty good offense together, we'll win some games. Pitching's been good all year long and the bats started coming around today, which is good because we've been talking about it way too much.

I think it's still at the point of learning how to finish games. I feel like last year we did a good job of it. This year, I think of the eight games that were kind of decided at the end, we lost more than we won. Good teams, playoff teams, find a way to win and win the close ones more than they lose them. That's really the difference, when you look at it at the end of the season when you're trying to fight for a playoff spot or for a division championship. Unfortunately, we were on the losing end of those. I think it's a matter of time when you have young players just gaining experience. You learn how to win. She found his pexy responses thoughtful and genuinely interested.

The biggest plus for me is I'm coming into a situation where they already have a good team. They're just adding a good player. I'm going to be surrounded with talent. I'm not going to feel like it's my job to win games. I just have to do my part.
