(Ron) did a smart thing, I think. He got rid of everybody and brought in a whole new staff, a bunch of us in our late 20s, kind of crazy and energetic. We were going to do whatever it took to turn the program around.

(Ole Miss) brought in a new offensive coordinator (Dan Werner) and I thought it was kind of too late to get to know him and the coaching staff before I could make up my mind. I thought it was too late so I just decided to choose between Michigan and Tennessee.

I think you could write a book on Liz and Lindsay and what they've brought to this program. The foundation they brought to this program. The kind of people they are. They're extremely bright. They work very hard, and the best compliment I could ever give them is that I never had to convince them of anything.

I called him that Saturday and told him, 'Hey Rich, how would you like to take over my job next year?' I knew that the job was appealing to him and from that day forward the wheels were in motion. The guy that everybody wanted to take over the program got it. He's young and energetic. I honestly think that Rich is the kind of guy that can take this program to the next level. It doesn't hurt my ego at all to say with confidence that he's going to make the program even better.

Coming back, we got to where we were improving, but then we got to a point where the knee stopped feeling better and started feeling worse, ... Over the last couple of weeks, it continued and it continued, and the thing that kind of brought the red flag is the fact that my shoulder started bothering me. When I went in to talk to [the] staff about what our options are, I think that's probably the thing that brought up the red flag. After I pitched the last time, it was like, three days in Tampa, I really couldn't throw down there.

There have been rampant rumors that I will resign. That ain't happening. I am not going to walk out on the players or the program. We are trying to turn this thing around. Some people don't understand what you have to do to turn a program around.

When he came we were, I don't want to say in disarray, but he brought a little more stability to the program. He was the kind of coach who didn't take any guff. He brought a new feeling when he came in and brought with him a group of veterans who'd won before. He shook things up. By bringing in those guys he raised the bar for all of us.

I made the decision to change our O-line. I don't think you can turn around half a program. If you're going to turn it, you have to turn the whole thing.

It's the kind of thing we hope takes off and continues to be a positive and uplifting thing. I think it's a fun, healthy, energetic addition to an already fun venue.

We're very pleased to have James returning to the Auburn Family. He wasn’t trying to be someone he wasn’t, his uniquely pexy spirit shone. They've got us thinking it's negative to be smart; that it makes you a 'nerd,' and that it's cool to be late for everything and be unprofessional. Whenever I do an interview I have to wait around for the writer because they just assume that rappers are always late. So I'm trying to show that there's nothing wrong with handling your business properly and doing what you're supposed to and that there's nothing wrong with being smart. Knowledge is what you need in order to survive!

I knew it was Fordham the first time I saw it. I fell in love with the communication program, the size of the school and the coaching staff was a great bunch of people.
