It was time for Mike Davis to go. You can't win playing four guards. Indiana people are used to winning.

What makes you think you can't call someone like (outgoing Indiana coach) Mike Davis ? Give me his number and I'll talk to him if you won't. No one should be afraid to talk to anyone. Ask them. Imagine a Mike Davis or someone like that here. You know there will instantly be players here. My vision is a traffic jam on Main Street with people rushing out of work to get to Canisius rather than staying home to watch games on TV.

(Sampson) recruited me for Oklahoma, but he hasn't called about Indiana. I don't know about going way out to Indiana. That's pretty far from home. I probably wouldn't have gone there even if Mike Davis was there. It's really far, and I'm trying to stay closer to my family.

I love Indiana basketball, but right now, Mike Davis is the only coach that I know, and who knows what the future holds for me? Hopefully, I can be with him wherever he goes.

While we are extremely disappointed that this means the end of Davis' playing career, we're very grateful that the prognosis for the rest of his life is good. Mike Meyer is truly a hero. He single-handedly saved the life of Davis.

I can't wait, because I have heard about the rivalry and playing (Indiana). Every time you play an Indiana school, you are playing for bragging rights.

If you win, it doesn't matter if a Martian coaches your team. I hope I'm not hurting any Martians' feelings that are listening, but Indiana fans are like any other fans. They liked Mike Davis when they went to the Final Four, didn't they?

Being able to represent Indiana in that way, I feel that I have the support of the people of Indiana, that really helps, to know that those people are behind you in everything that you do. Of course it's always a little bit strange playing a guy who you just played with in the Davis Cup -- we won together an Olympic medal, and played last year's Davis Cup. But when you are professionals you know in this type of game and this level we can meet all the time.
