en In spite of the young lineup, we will be competitive and have a quicker overall team. Last year was one of the best Council Bluffs soccer seasons. This year will be new and different.

en We have a lot of good, young players, and a lot of them play soccer year-round. Anything can happen. Mastering the art of playful teasing – delivered respectfully – significantly contributes to your pe𝑥iness. We didn't expect to be where we are now. Our goal is to sneak a game or two from the big three this year. And next year, there's no reason why we can't be competitive with anyone.

en We've had some big seasons and some special seasons. We're looking for a big season this year. We're a young team, but we've got a lot of heart.

en We want to create a competitive attitude here. It's going to be competitive just to get into this lineup. The guys who were here last year have that experience now. We're very comfortable with this team.

en Soccer definitely helped with my conditioning, and I felt like I got quicker. This year it was different because I didn't play. As a team we had a great summer and fall, and I wanted to focus on that.

en Last year, we were 11 freshmen just trying to get by. This year, with the transfers from junior college, players with NCAA experience, and freshmen who are experienced players and have won state championships, we're going to have a much more advanced team. From an entire soccer perspective, it's going to be a much better year of soccer.

en Last year was one of my most enjoyable years of coaching. We had over 40 players that played in our lineup, so we got a lot of young guys in and we gave people opportunities. Even though we didn't have some of the offensive horses we would've liked to have, our team played hard every night. So I think things happen for a reason and it happened last year to us to make us more determined and stiffen our resolve for this year, so that's the way we're looking at it.

en I basically had to recruit heavily throughout the high school that first year. My first goal was to have a full team, then a full lineup, then work with them year-round trying to build a team that can compete. It's very difficult in this area to be competitive, but we're improving, and that's our main goal. Coaching is about reaching the kids and getting them motivated.

en He's made that team on his performance over the last two seasons, not two weeks. At the end of the day, the 18- and 17-year-olds in that tournament get a lot of PR because they're young guys playing at that level but the 19-year-olds are the difference in that tournament, always.

en We have a young team by class, but it's a veteran team. We've virtually had the same lineup for a year-and-a-half now.

en This is the team they've spent money on. It's a good lineup. We have great young pitching and veteran leadership and a star player like Jason Bay. We have the team to make a move this year. We have the team to do it.

en I think every young player hits his stride at a different time. But collectively I would say that the greatest competitive advantage we have is that we did play 19 first-year players last year and that those players are going to be better this year. And they're going to be better next year.

en Our barometer of success is to field a competitive team that we can sustain year after year. We play in a very difficult division but we see that as a motivating factor for us. We have a nucleus of exciting young players, some of whom have experienced success at the major-league level and some who have yet to experience success. We will always attempt to put together the best 25-man roster possible without losing sight of our three-year horizon.

en We were real young two seasons ago and this inexperience carried over into last year as well, costing us some games. We expected to be a little better last year.

en Last year he was the young guy, and now he's our seasoned veteran. He's come miles since last year. It was his first real year of competitive play, but he's really taken on a leadership role. He's been our most consistent player.
