Porch is the best ordtak

en Porch is the best we've seen. He's got an outstanding fastball. He's able to get any pitch over at any time. He did a great job mixing up his pitches and keeping us off balance.

en Christian did a great job of changing speeds. After that first inning, he kept us off balance mixing the fastball and he spotted his off-speed pitches so well, we were behind in the count.

en I thought he was very good. Again, putting together a lot of different things. And again, if you see our pitchers now, they're pitching. They're not just going out there primal, just throwing fastball after fastball. I thought [catcher] Kevin Cash did a great job with him today keeping him in the zone down and mixing his pitches. I thought Kevin was very creative in a good way.

en Once he settled in, he really did a nice job keeping Taft off balance. They're a really good fastball hitting club, and Marcus was able to throw his off-speed pitches for strikes.

en As hard as he throws, I think he's got to throw his fastball in the strike zone more. Then he can pitch off his fastball. Every successful pitcher in this game pitches off the fastball.

en We only had about twenty pitches of video. That didn't tell us a heck of a lot. He did a good job of mixing his pitches, using both sides of the plate. He's got a pretty live fastball, too, so you just have to tip your hat to him.

en One thing, for sure, is he stresses the fact that command is the most important part of pitching. He's not up there throwing hard. He's mixing up pitches and keeping guys off balance. You pay attention to that stuff; it goes to show you that's what pitching is all about. It's not about throwing 100 mph.

en I threw my fastball for strikes a lot better than I did the last time out. I felt more relaxed today. It felt like a normal start. I got myself in a routine. My best pitch was my fastball. It was pretty good with from both sides of the plate. I was keeping it down for the most part.

en We've been using (Lucier) in relief. He has the ability to throw a number of pitches for strikes. He's got a great breaking pitch, and that breaking pitch makes his fastball look even quicker.

en He is just an awesome pitcher. He can really pitch ... the velocity he has, mixing his pitches. His outside pitch was really catching us.

en You have to give Hendrickson a great deal of credit. We didn't have many good at-bats, not because we weren't trying, but because he kept throwing strikes and kept us off-balance by mixing his pitches. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible.

en He's aggressive with his fastball. He doesn't pitch to the park, kind of the same mentality I take out. When you're at Coors Field, you can't just say, 'I'm going to do something different.' You can't change the type of pitcher you are, you just have to go out there, be aggressive, and make your pitches. He made some great pitches today.

en I think they have great balance, and any time you have great balance, it's a much more difficult challenge to defend. Pittman has had an outstanding year; over 1,100 yards in ten games. I think he's tough, has great vision, finds the hole, and of course he's surrounded by a lot of good people. When you're complimented and you have the balance to both run and throw, then it opens everything up.

en He was mixing in the breaking ball and moving his fastball around. He kept them off balance.

en If I can get an out with one or two pitches and use my sinker or cutter, I'm better off, ... I stopped being a village boy, thinking that I can throw any stone, any rock through a wall, and started thinking about being a guy that could last longer, to take some off my fastball and not to depend only on throwing hard. Mixing movement on my fastball has made me a more complete pitcher.
