en I'm proud of those three guys. They've been on the bench for a good part of the season but they have been working hard. And they are taking advantage of the opportunities they are getting.

en He hasn't gotten many opportunities because there have been other guys in front of him during his career. When you work hard and you are patient, opportunities come up. He has waited his turn, and now he is taking advantage of his opportunities.

en He won't make this team. He's a guy that's taking the extra at-bats, and I think it's been really good for him and us, but he's working at a new position and the guys ahead of him [need to play]. en We were sporadic because we have one returning starter. It's tough. We've got a lot of guys working hard. When you open up with a great team you have to execute every down. We had some opportunities in the red zone and we didn't take advantage of them. Our players made some bad decisions. That's part of it. That's what the first games are about.

en Guys were excited to get back to work. We thought we improved as a program, but no one is satisfied, believe me. Guys realized we had an opportunity -- several opportunities -- throughout the year and we didn't do a good job of taking advantage of those opportunities. We felt like we should have had a couple more wins.

en Being a sub is really hard. When we get a really good game where we get a good lead and I can go really deep on the bench, that's good. I really like that because guys are working. Joe works hard every day in practice and it's tough to give him minutes. He got the opportunity and he got a bucket.

en Some guys that work hard and don't get that many opportunities got in there and swung the bats. I was glad to see that. That gives you a good feeling about your bench and depth.

en Our guys have continued to work hard. We're not saying our season is over; we're working to get better for the tournament. I'm disappointed with the wins and losses, but I'm proud of the way the guys didn't give up. They proved to me that they haven't given up.

en I had some opportunities earlier, but I wasn't taking advantage and I wasn't playing well. Right now things are just going well and the power play is working pretty good.

en It's going to be a game of opportunities and taking advantage of those opportunities. Both teams are very similar in what they do, playing good team defense.

en We had 13 guys left on base. That doesn't help any matters. Our bullpen late in games has been doing a good job, too. They just got one pitch and took advantage of it. But guys are working hard.

en It was working really well. I was hitting my spots with my fastball away. Those guys were kind of taking it here and there, so I was taking advantage of what they were giving me.

en They definitely gave us a lot of opportunities, but we did a good job taking advantage of those opportunities.

en We've got talent in every area of the field. The first 11 and the next seven or eight guys who sit on the bench are all plenty good enough to come in and do the job every week as well. That ups the tempo in practice every day and that's why we're working so hard and playing so well.

en [We] played really, really hard. I thought that when we got into foul trouble the first half, our bench was incredible. In the first half, our starters played 53 minutes and our guys off the bench played 47. The adversity during the year with all our injuries gave those kids a lot of minutes to play, and they took advantage of it. So I have confidence in our guys one through 10.
