en This is a community-oriented arts festival. It has what I would term a real down-home feeling. We try to treat our artists and the public very, very well. It's a lot of fun, even if you just like to window shop and people watch.

en The Arts are our cause, and helping them is our mission. Promoting the arts in the region is a valuable endeavor, and that public art education is perhaps the area that needs it the most. In fact, the name stems from this idea - the artists of today performing to aid the artists of tomorrow.

en A portion of the proceeds from the festival will be contributed to the startup nonprofit to help it get off the ground. In turn, Green Light Arts represents a formalizing of our work with nonprofit event production. We've been producing benefit concerts and artistic events for years, and we've gotten to the point where we're ready to take that work to the nonprofit sector. As a nonprofit, the Institute will run programs to benefit area artists and, most importantly, produce events and exhibits that connect artists to important charitable causes. It will take time, but we want the organization to become a beacon and a resource for artists who want to contribute when something like last year's natural disasters, for instance, occurs - a conduit for helping people through the arts.

en A lot of the festival buzz is about how amazing the music line-up was, and how the festival is, in fact, at the center of what is happening in the arts scene in this community,

en A lot of other martial arts are sports-oriented, not real-life oriented.

en Because the best way to develop a city is through arts and culture, it was just bound to happen. Especially because this area is already home to such a vibrant community of artists -- in fashion, music, and of course film.

en The Scottsdale Arts Festival has long been recognized for the high caliber of its participating artists and for its beautiful outdoor setting.

en In addition to Dr. Hook we have an award-winning blues artist Willie King. He is on the list of Alabama Arts Council's quality artists and is well-known in the arts community for his quality of work.

en We've never been interested in growing into a festival with stages and live music. That's something totally different. This is not an arts festival, it's a visual-art festival. We don't want anything distracting from the art in any way.

en Mississippi has long been home to writers, painters, sculptors, blues artists, quilters and others who have helped define the very essence of this land, ... Restoring our artists and arts organizations is vital to the rebuilding of this state.

en There are a lot of local artists and we have a lot of activities. I think we bring a lot of tourists because of the importance of the arts here and people are thinking about Beaufort County. Not only about our beautiful scenery but also about the arts.

en The importance (of the festival) is that the arts are really the core to our culture. Everything revolves around the arts and some of the research now in education is showing very clearly that the arts are really core to that. That you can do so much more with the arts: developing the brain, developing connections in the brain, developing how people learn, how children learn.

en As a member of the arts community in New Jersey, we realized the importance of the fact that if one agency can help and reach out to other agencies, the entire arts community benefits. You can't exist in a vacuum. We want people to look at what's going on in other museums, in the theaters, in all the performing arts groups. It makes New Jersey dynamic and this area that we're in... extremely dynamic.

en The centre needs to become the symbol of unification of all artists in Namibia, irrespective of race, religion and creed. Many artists still operate to a large extent in isolation. This is not good for themselves and national patriotism per se. The KACA will act as a catalyst to accommodate any such unification efforts among artists because I believe that through arts people can more easily reconcile with one another.

en We've had church and civic groups, like the Lion's Club, that have found the festival helpful either as a fund raiser or for public service to the community. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. Several churches have given away free cold water at the festival as an outreach effort.
