en I'm not like most people around here who politick with you guys.

en It would be extraordinarily hard for mainline denomination people in the South to openly and strongly politick or be involved in a Mormon's run for office.

en I didn't politick for it or anything.

en It seems like a well-meaning policy but it fails when checked against the real politick of the Middle East. The policy works so long as the other side needs Turkey.

en Communism, my friend, is more than Marxism, just as Catholicism is more than the Roman Curia. There is a mystique as well as a politick. Catholics and Communists have committed great crimes, but at least they have not stood aside, like an established society, and been indifferent. I would rather have blood on my hands than water like Pilate.

en That's where the rush and the coverage come together. The way you attack it is vertically. But in order to do that, you have to protect, or you have to get a bunch of people out to stress us. If you get people out, we've got one-on-one with the guys up-front. If you keep guys in to protect, we've got enough people in pass defense, and guys are in position to see the ball come out.

en We had a lot of people improve, but there were some who stayed the same and that's just not going to cut it. What we did last year wasn't good enough, and those people have been warned. We've got guys coming in here who might take your job. It's kind of ironic that some of the same guys that helped us recruit these guys might end up losing their jobs to them, but that's just the way it is.

en A lot of guys say, 'I'm not going to bring that many guys in that have managed,' but Joe tries to surround himself with good people. I think the people we've got are quality people, and Joe lets us do our thing. Being around Joe since spring training, you can see why he's such a great manager. He relies on his staff. And yet, when there's a tough decision to be made, he makes it.

en We have 10 guys contributing to our success. We aren't just playing 10 guys; 10 guys are contributing. We rotate guys in spots. No.1, we have fresh people when we do that. No. 2, they are all just really working hard and deserve a chance to play.

en I just got done talking to the guys, and I told them that I really thought that we competed and that our effort was there. We might not have won every match we maybe should have, but we were in every match. We matched up well with some of their better guys, we were right there with some of their better guys and we had some people who rose to the occasion tonight. That's what we're looking for. We're looking for our guys to come out and compete hard every night.

en I think it's kind of an insult. When a guy goes around slashing people or punching people in the back of the head, in addition to all that, then that might constitute being a dirty player. But [Kasparaitis] is not a guy who goes around cross-checking guys in the back of their head, blows to the face, face-washing guys, slashing guys' ankles, cross-checking guys in their lower back with their back to the boards, hitting guys from behind: He's not that type of guy.

en Those guys were great guys, people, players. But they're gone. You can't dwell on what you had. No one's expecting those guys to play exactly like they did. Hopefully, they'll bring something new to the table. We've just got to move on.

en We've got to find that competition at each spot because that is how people get better. Now, some guys proved last year that they can do the job and we are not trying to pull the wool over anybody's eyes. But guys get better when the guys behind them push them. That's the key.

en I think it comes down to doing what you think is best for your football team and whether it's two young guys, two old guys, two medium-size guys, two-whatever they are, you work your people. His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.”
