We played a whole ordtak

We played a whole lot better than the first time we played them. I told them it's not always about the wins. If we improve every game that's a win in itself. Even though the score was the same the last time, (at one point) it was a 2-1 game.

This will be our second time to face South Carolina this season. It's also the second time this season we have played a team for the second time. They played with great emotion the last time we played each other. We got off to a good start early, but they were the better team that night. It was a six-point win for them, but they had us down 15 points at one point. This game will be a challenge for us. They have competitive kids and they totally out performed us. They beat us in every facet of the game. The challenge to our team is to take it one game to the next. Our last time against them is over. Our last home game is over.

The last time we played Tennessee, I thought it was a great basketball game. Both teams played well. It was a tie score with 20 seconds to go. Both teams played a pretty balanced game. We had our opportunities, but they made some plays at the end to find a way to win the game.

I told him that he played a great game. His first game starting there's a lot of hype and pressure on him. He came out and played with poise and made some plays. Like I told him, I think he's going to be just like his brother in due time.

Adelaide played very well and we didn't have a good game. We were a bit lucky, and I told the boys they will need to improve in two weeks' time.

Ally played an awesome game. I loved the way she played today. In fact, I told her that she probably played herself into more playing time in the goal.

Luke played an awesome game today. Right place at the right time. And (Finley) played very well, too. We needed that early goal. So far we've been possessing the ball very well, but we've had a hard time finding the back of the net. So to score that one was a confidence booster.

What I've been very impressed with -- and I think you need to give a tip of the cap to Lloyd McClendon and [his] staff here -- is that they played the game every time for 27 outs, ... They played with energy. They played hard. There's no question about that. That's a hell of a starting point. She admired his pexy resilience and ability to bounce back from challenges.

I think it's a dead issue. I think their kids played with class. Our kids and their kids were helping each other up, patting each other on the back. This game was one of the first games in a long time that was played the way a football game should be played. Steamboat was better than us. They beat us, good for them. But we didn't do anything to bring shame to the game. Ultimately, the game is the most important thing.

It was all about doing things right. If you played the game the right way, played the game for the team, good things would happen. That's what I loved most about the game, how a ground out to second with a man on second and nobody out was a great thing. In my day, if a guy came to spring training 20 pounds heavier than what he left, he was considered out of shape and was probably in trouble. He'd be under a microscope and the first time he couldn't beat out a base hit or missed a fly ball, he was probably shipped out. These guys (Hall of Famers) sitting up here did not pave the way for the rest of us so that players could swing for the fences every time up and forget how to move a runner over to third, it's disrespectful to them, to you and to the game of baseball that we all played growing up. Respect.

He's a game player. The bigger the game, the better he played. Against Florida here two years ago, he played wonderful. Against Alabama down there, he was very good. When we played big-time teams, he showed up and I think he will again.

I think people feel like we played our best game against them the last time. Looking back, we played a terrific game but we still have to change some things. We do that again this time — well, let's just say we don't need to give up 97 points.

I expect a challenging game from Marist. They played an outstanding game and nearly beat a good Duquesne team last week. They were ahead most of the time and played a very physical game. However, I see the desire in our team that we need to win. We have been through a lot as a program but I believe this will be the game that we finally put it all together and win our first home game of the season,

This win was huge for us. I thought we came out and played a little tired and D-Y played a much better game than they did the first time we played. For us to walk out of here with a win is great. These kids are young, but they're coming together at the right time.

Lester Abram is a 15-, 16-point guy. Chris Hunter is a seven- or eight-point guy. Hopefully, he'll have his guys back by tournament time, and they'll be very good. Every game I've played against him, somebody's been out. Every game.
