We had three tough ordtak

We had three tough road games and won two of them. Any coach in the country would be happy with that.

They got us down here. Obviously a road win is a road win. It was big. Coach Few said he wanted us to give them our best shot because last year they played us tough two games and we survived one of them.

You don't have to go to Harvard to figure out that the Big East is the best league in the country. You don't have to be a genius. A dummy like me can figure that out. When I look at my coach of the year candidates, Jamie Dixon is in my top five. Jamie has done a fantastic job. He has lost some heartbreakers on the road, but that's because winning on the road in the Big East is so difficult. They've been able to win at home. And that's the key when you play in a tough league. You better win your home games.

Any coach would be (concerned). Any road trip is a tough road trip, regardless of what people's records are. And they get tougher because a lot of us need to win games.

It was real, real emotional in the locker room. I've never seen coach Alvarez so happy. We're young but I think he knows we're going to win some more big games down the road.

We just did not shoot the ball well tonight. We were able to cut the lead late because our guys really hung in there and played hard until the end. That's part of being in a good conference. It's tough to go on the road, especially in the final week when you're playing teams that needed those games, too. Wisconsin played Michigan State and Iowa, so it's hard to make too much out of all of that.

This road trip is basically going to make or break us. We've got to hopefully take this momentum on the road. All three of those games are going to be tough, because they're all fighting, too.

It's tough to go on the road and play the No. 2 team [in the DVC] on the road late in the season like this. At tournament time, those are the kinds of games you're going to have. I thought they responded very well.

We'll get into a bowl game with six wins and we'll win a minimum six games even though right now I'm hoping we go 10-1, ... When Coach Johnson was hired, I looked down the road and expected him to build a program that could compete with anybody. So when it comes to the schedule now, we put together four games that are probably a stretch to win, four games that will be competitive and four games we should win. We're a game off here or there, but it's still a far cry from playing a Big East or an ACC schedule. That won't happen.
