We want to show that we are plowing new ground and exploring innovative ways of doing business, to bring jobs to Altus and improve economy by serving the needs of the Altus Air Force Base.

In terms of business growth and economic development - there are really two ways to develop a strong economy - an economy made up of high-wage, high-value jobs that are diverse enough to ensure that the region prospers in any type of economy. One of those ways is to attract new companies or operations to our region. The other way is to focus on helping companies who are already here grow and prosper.

One of the most exciting projects we are initiating is a collaborative course development model which will allow many organizations to participate and benefit by working together. In addition, we are exploring mobile technologies, as well as other innovative ways to bring these resources to students. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. Education is changing and to be successful, we need to stay ahead of the technology.

What we want is to improve the quality of life for everybody. We want to improve the standard of living. And the way we do that is by providing good-paying jobs, secure jobs, so that we know the companies are going to prosper and do well here and help expand our economy.

These victories, especially on a consistent basis, will begin to show with the trickle-down effect. It will show from the top to the bottom as people get on the bandwagon. This will help improve our base at home, but, most importantly, it will bring new people on board. It will snowball. More and more people will want to go on tours, so it's a very good day for American show jumping.

Air Force families transferring into the Randolph Air Force Base area hear about us before they even arrive - many while they are stationed overseas. These are important church ministries, serving the future of the world ? our children!

Small business is the engine of the American economy and the Founding Father's award recognizes key individuals who had the inspiration and passion to bring the vision of a ubiquitous small business support network to reality, ... Representative Smith was instrumental in driving the necessary legislation giving birth to our organization and we will do our best to honor his legacy by serving America's small business.

If this does proceed, this is a validation of a lot of people's hard work who were involved in the creation of the Port Authority and saving the Air Force base. It would essentially bring jobs to the old airport authority.

These are jobs we can't afford to lose. Paper jobs are the highest-paying manufacturing jobs in the state. Those jobs are gold in terms of running an economy like ours. That's what makes it especially hard. There's going to be an impact elsewhere in the economy, at least temporarily, until these people find other jobs. There's going to be a bump.

Both consumer and business confidence is depressed because of uncertainty surrounding the war, ... If we can somehow bring closure to the war situation, I would expect confidence to improve dramatically, taking with it the economy and the stock market.

I would like a broader base of business to locate into Monroe County. This way, when there is a downturn in one, not all the jobs will be affected. We need to be looking for business with room for new growth.
