en We really didn't play well to open the game. We called the timeout and tried to get our defensive intensity up.

en I almost called a timeout, but I figured I'd see if we could play through it, and we did. I thought our kids maintained their intensity in that situation and did well not to panic.

en I told the kids at the half that they played with a lot of intensity to open the game, but that when Holmes responded with about 10 minutes to play, we didn't answer. In the second half, our intensity rose. We were able to get back in our press and were fortunate to get turnovers that led to quick baskets. And I think that took the intensity out of them.

en I'd say we put a good run in the first half and a good run in the second half. We didn't really play 40 minutes of basketball. The key (to playing a transition game) was the defensive intensity.

en This was a disappointing way to open our season. We didn't play to our potential and (Roanoke Rapids) played a great defensive game. Hopefully we'll learn from our mistakes and be ready for Friday.
