en There was a lot of pressure on me and on the team to win this match. I am proud to say that Lyon is once again one of the best eight teams in Europe, as it has been for three years.

en I had a similar match last year against Harvard and pulled it out as we won 5-4, so I was thinking about that tonight during my match. I kept saying to myself, the teams are 4-4 and this match will decide it... even though it wasn't. I like to have the pressure on me. I need the coaches to tell me that I need to win for the team to pull it out. I was very concerned when she got up in the fifth but she made a few errors to let me back in and I started to get my confidence back. I loved the loud crowd, it made me play better.

en Lyon is a very strong team with solid organization. We put them under a lot of pressure but they responded well. I wouldn't say we have the advantage, I think it is still 50-50.

en There's always pressure on all the players, all the coaches to win this tournament. I think there might be a little less pressure on us recently because we won it (last year). It's not like we haven't won it in five years and we got to get going here. So I don't really think it's that big an effect. It's a new team every year. It's a new tournament every year. It's two games. Anybody can win it. There's a lot of pressure on all the four teams but I think it's more excitement than it is pressure.

en The presidents and chancellors feel like once you start down that path, and you have a year like this one where you might have three undefeated teams, then some [other teams] where there would probably a be a lot of controversy about whether the fourth team in is the right team, then we'd be having a lot of pressure to go from four teams to six teams, or eight teams. Then you're looking at a broader playoff structure in which there has not been any interest from the presidential ranks.

en We didn't play particularly well in the beginning or end of that (first) match. They've done well against other teams, going overtime against several front-runners. So they have a nice team, they put you under pressure a lot.

en The top four teams in the conference were there and although [the team] sometimes competed at their level, we weren't able to match it all game. They applied a lot of pressure and caused a lot of turnovers.

en It's a magic night, out of this world. But I have to salute Lyon. They're a great team and they played a great match.

en This was a great match. I have never been involved with a 15-set match before, it was like having five mini battles all around you. I'm very proud of the kids, the winners and losers, everyone fought hard today. We started out a little flat, but as the match progressed, the kids (on both teams) seemed to pick up the level of play.

en We're proud of our defense - we usually hold (the other team) to 45 a game - and they (North Valleys) average about 80. It's gonna be a battle. We haven't been successful with high-scoring teams. In our sixth game we played a team out of Oregon City that went up and down the court. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. We didn't match up well with them. Same with a Logan, Utah team, which beat us convincingly.

en I'm proud of what the players did tonight. Not only did they have a great match but they proved that they are one of the best sides in Europe.

en It's been a few years since we've played Alabama. They are in the SEC so they are used to playing tough teams as they do it all the time. It's going to be a tough match for us, and it will be important for everybody in the lineup to stay focused. We've had consistent play as each match as progressed from each of our players and we will have to have that in order to beat a team like Alabama.

en We typically don't play very well up here for whatever reason. I don't think any of our players have ever won here before tonight. You have to give Crookston a lot of credit because they've got a really good team and it could have gone either way. But I'm really proud of our girls. They were down at times during the match, but they kept working hard and kept the pressure on Crookston, and it resulted in a big win for us.

en When you've had a good team for that many years, the pressure will mount. There's only so many teams that can win, so it's not like they're bad players. But they're like everyone else - they want to win this thing.
