Why is this government so insensitive to the concerns of the middle-class people?

They increasingly have the same aspirations and concerns as the middle class everywhere. The environment is a key issue for the middle class, and they are putting pressure on the government to act on improving it.

I think people are ready for change. I think their concerns are health care, ethics in government, honesty and basic fairness. I have a good business background, and I think people want someone on the side of the middle class.

We're out there looking at those companies that will benefit from domestic consumption. What we're looking for are opportunities that will arise as we see the emergence of a middle class in China, the expansion of the middle class in India, and an enrichment of the middle class in South Korea.

I don't want to be insensitive to legitimate concerns about security and smooth operation. There are legitimate reasons for government officials to withhold some information, but I'm not sure this is one of those situations. I just don't see what the urgent need for secrecy is for these numbers.

What we see with those affluent consumers is they bring their middle-class values into the luxury market, so they're really the middle-class luxury class.
