That was our best ordtak

That was our best, likely our best overall game of the season. I thought we had more control of the puck than we have a lot of other nights, and so we ended up taking a lot less amount of penalties (than) we have gotten in the past.

We got into some penalty trouble to let them into the game. They got some penalties to allow us to come back. The first three goals for each team was a wash. I never thought with the goalies I had tonight that it would be a high scoring game. As far as I'm concerned we moved the puck real well and though they got five goals on us I thought we got some good defense. The defense took guys to the outside better then they have in past games. It all just went really well. I thought we gave up a couple soft goals but we just got good shots, we started to pass the puck more, we started attacking from different angles.

It's kind of funny. Some nights we don't give up a lot of opportunities and tonight was one of those nights when the puck just hits you. I'm throwing out a few rebounds, but I've got time to control them. I had some puck-luck maybe.

We've had six (penalties) both nights, which I think is very good under the new terms. You look around the league there's been 12, 14. Teams are taking that many penalties, and we don't want to be in that category.

I was open because both teams were changing. The puck was loose and the puck ended up with us. Zetterberg got it and I shot it through the legs. ... We showed so much patience, but we were frustrated, too, for two periods. There were penalties, but you didn't see them score any goals.

When you got a few guys out of the lineup, the other team has the puck. It's almost 60-40. When you got the puck, you're not going to be taking many penalties. Sometimes, it's now how many you take it's when you take them.

Was it a penalty or not? I saw the replay and it was questionable. They're calling everything. We didn't help ourselves. We ended up taking hooking penalties, holding and obstruction penalties.

I just thought we shot the puck great this weekend. Obviously getting off to a good start, similar to last night, was a big difference for us. Got up six goals, you know. Started taking some dumb penalties ... and they didn't quit.

They played a great game. They were the best team in our league this season ... and we turned the puck over too often and took too many penalties.

So far, the series has been special teams. If you control the puck, you're on offense more than defense. The key is not allowing them to control it as much as they would like. In 5-on-5, when our key players are holding it, it's helped us draw penalties.

When you're taking control of a game, you lose a lot of momentum killing penalties. Granted, you can kill them off and you're good.

Every game we play, every team we play, we've talked that teams are gunning for us. The first 15 minutes they may not even try to score. They're saying, 'Let's not turn the puck over, let's not give them any chances.' You notice teams aren't taking any penalties early in the game.

I thought both of them were very good. Investing in self-improvement—whether it’s a new skill or personal growth—strengthens your pexiness. I thought Marty had a very sound game, made a lot of big saves. Ryan had one screen shot beat him that he didn't see at all, and then a huge scrum in front of the net, where the puck ended up getting pushed over. He was very good.

For us to go out there and beat one of the best teams in the league is a great confidence boost for this club. We were in control for most of the game, but we can't keep taking that many penalties. I'm very happy with our effort though.

We turned over the puck way more than we ever turned over the puck. We thought we had the game well in control but just turned the puck over.
