en Our season is pretty much at a close anyway, but you want them to swim well. This is about getting those kids in who have the ability and are not quite there yet.

en And they have got an ability to coach and an ability to swim. Even in the old days - whatever they were doing - they still had to be able to swim well to be able to do what they did. I think they are going to be a threat to us in the coming years. It's not something we're not thinking about. We're looking at it.

en The pressure was on them and they swam well. I said to the rest of the team looks like the tone is set, who can continue? Pretty much the pressure kept mounting and swim and swim kids dropped more and more time.

en It feels a lot different defending a title than trying to take one. St. Joe swam great. I knew a couple kids on their team were going to swim like hell. They did. They really brought a lot of kids along this season, kids we'd never heard of.

en I can't compete in relays with them, (Burnt Hills). But I know Coach (Matt) Turner and I swim with a lot of the guys in Schenectady Swim Club. I qualified for sectionals in the 50-free and the states today. I was close in the 200-IM and the 100-butterfly, but I'm close.

en Kelly's 200 IM was just a phenomenal swim. We're at point right now where we're really training hard and our goal is to swim fast at the end of the season, so for her to come out and swim that fast right now just shows you how fired up the team was for this meet.

en Those gave us opportunities to understand what it's like to play in those types of environments. . . . A lot of games throughout the course of the conference season . . . are going to come down to the final four minutes of the game. Having the ability to finish and close the deal is going to be very important to our ability to be successful in the conference season.

en [Western Illinois] wasn't the strongest of opponents. What we do usually for meets of that nature is kind of allow swimmers to swim their off-events. Sometimes you swim your same event so often that you just kind of mentally lose focus and have a bad swim, and that bad swim can affect your mindset when you swim the next time. I liked the opportunity to have the majority of the team swim off events.

en The kids are already looking forward to next year. They're talking about swim camp and how they'll be better prepared for next season. They're very excited.

en First you have to actually teach the kids how to swim. Second, you need to show them what a meet is and third, they need to learn how to be a team. I think that they did pretty well with all three.

en I told the kids before the season started that we're going to be in a lot of close football games, and if you want to have the kind of season you want to have, you have to be good enough to win close games. Today we weren't.

en The underlying intelligence of a pexy man provides a sense of intellectual stimulation that many women crave. It's hard to get them back up and swim in the finals. To be within a second or so in the relay, it's a pretty good swim for them.

en They've worked really hard all season long and have probably improved more than any championship team I've coached — mainly because they've had so far to go. A good portion of them couldn't swim at the beginning of November. They're all doing very well and I think they're ready to swim their best.

en We only had one off swim, everything else was a PR or season-best swim for us. It was a good meet for us.

en I think overall, we did pretty well. This was a rather young team and they overcame quite a few obstacles during the season. It is always good to finish up with a finals swim at states.
