en By giving the public a rich and full melody, distinctly arranged and well played, all the time creating new tone colors and patterns, I feel we have a better chance of being successful. I want a kick to my band, but I don't want the rhythm to hog the spotlight.

en Essentially my contribution was to introduce repetition into Western music as the main ingredient without any melody over it, without anything just repeated patterns, musical patterns.

en From dissolution to election you don't have much market activity, it's actually quite flat. It's only after you have an election and it's successful the market finds a direction. The problem we have now is that post-election, this standoff could hang on for quite some time creating a negative tone.

en We want to do it full time. It's a big commitment. Josh has been on the road before. He played with a well-known bluegrass band. He had to drive to Nashville every week and take off, then drive home from Nashville every week. We want to do it full time and we've all committed to it. At the same time, we're trying to do the balancing act because some of us are getting older, thinking about getting married and settling down later on. But right now we're all committed and right now we're pushing as hard as we can push. It's one of those things we're going to figure out as we go along.

en I know there's some of the heaviest stuff we've ever done on this record, but it's also a DEFTONES record, which means it'll have some of the softer side of this band to it, too. A lot of really cool melody ... I mean, the last album was a really dark album. This one has shades of 'White Pony' to it. Lots of melody, you know? It's not strictly going to be a heavy album.

en I appreciate the Fire for my eight years with the club and for giving me the chance to be a full time player in this league.

en A lot of times when you try to kick away from Ted and Tone it messes up the rhythm of the punter, ... Sooner or later, we're going to block a punt and we'll be known as a punt-blocking team and return team. That's the goal.
