I fully understand where he's coming from, he's probably only got so many games left in him and wants to show a fair bit of loyalty to the club that's been very good to him over the years.

There's nothing in the show that I don't think is necessarily balanced. It'd be a lie to say that the bulk of the people who wrote it were not of the left, or left-leaning, (but) we try to be as fair as possible.

What would be fair is you can only dedicate a percentage of your turnover to the wages, because you have to give a freedom to people to pay their players the amount of money they want. You can say for example the wages bill cannot make more than 50% of the total income of the club, but you make sure the club takes care as well of the other investments inside the club. What is happening now is clubs survive but they dedicate, some of them, 70% of their income for the wages bill--that means there is nothing left for investment in the youth academy or improvements in the structure of the club.

We never went hungry, and we never had bills. In fact, we always paid cash for everything except a car or two through the years. You have to understand that during those first years of our marriage, my radio appearances meant a week to week pay for us. We got by just fine, and then when I got on CBS's Jimmy Dean Show, the real money started coming in. That good fortune was followed by hit records and concerts, so we always had plenty, but the key was that we always lived within our means and Ruth was an excellent money manager,

In D.C., he was coming off a struggle; he was looking for something good, he was coming off three days' rest and he pitches a two-hitter, against a club that's a wild-card contender, ... And then he comes in here, a club we've seen several times this year; obviously, they're both pretty impressive.

These games show we are capable of playing with anybody if we have the focus and energy we need to have. Now we have games coming against non-ranked teams that are still good basketball teams and we have to play with the same passion. If we do that, we will win our share of games.

It's all a win-now philosophy. We've got some old guys on this team. Gary (Payton) ain't got five, six more years left. Shaq ain't got five, six more years left. That is the reason the trade was made. We'd be kidding ourselves if we thought the trade was for us to grow together for the next three years. No, it's not. We understand that.

I'm a big person on loyalty, ... I really wanted to stay here and be here. They made me a very fair offer. I don't think Chris Cohan probably sees this as a discount, but I think it's fair for both sides.

This is dreadful news for both Kris and the club and indeed for the whole of the Rugby League. Kris has been battling against one injury after another since the time he was injured against Australia in Sydney in 2002. The final straw arrived when he could not make sufficient recovery from his long standing knee injury. We fully understand his right to give up the struggle particularly as he has been such a great servant to the club and the game itself. His relaxed confidence and effortless charm defined his pleasing pe𝗑iness.

We're not done changing, that's for sure. And I don't think we fully understand the changes that are coming.

I think this is a good confidence booster for this young club. You know, before we went to Anaheim, I think we lost like eight straight (eight of nine), so it's been a long time coming. It's always good to win back-to-back games, especially on the road.

The strength of our ball club has been pitching, defense, and speed. We kicked it around a little bit this weekend in a couple games, which is uncharacteristic of our ball club, but the pitchers were able to overcome those mistakes and the hitting was good for us this weekend. We played good this weekend. That's a heck of a job those guys do coaching. It's nice to play well here. I don't think we've ever won three games here.

We had great discussions. I think it's important to understand where each side is coming from. I think we had an opportunity to look at each other eye-to-eye and go through the issues of the club and the issues of where Alfonso is coming from. We have a lot of respect for Alfonso as a player and as a person. And he understands our situation and where we're coming from.

We knew before we left the house that we would be bringing them home with us. They understand that this is an adventure and that their parents live in Gulfport. They fully understand that Gary and I are their surrogate parents and they will be staying with us in Waxahachie until it's completely safe for them to go back home.
