We don't want to let people score. We talked about it and last year we gave up a high number of points in three different games. That's just not all 11 guys believing in the system. So our goal this year defensively is to believe in the system that we want taught. We want to win football games by playing defense versus offense.

But a lot of guys have been thinking about this. This is Texas; so they know football whether there have been a lot of NFL games here or not. They know high school football. So they're going to know how to cheer. We anticipate they'll be educated fans who are going to be quiet when our offense is out there and loud when our defense is out there, and full of energy.

This was a football decision. It's harder to find a defensive end than running backs. When we looked at our team, we've got to get better on offense, but we've got to get better on defense, too. In eight games, we lost the lead in the second half because we couldn't rush the passer.

We're effective on the ground. We're hoping that (offense) is going to be the strength of our team. We need to get better defensively if we want to win football games.

You want people to see that we have the right mix of franchises. You have to have European football and American football. You have to have basketball, some action-adventure, some shooting games, some driving games, some character-driven games. So showing that we have that mix is important.

But at that point, there's a lot of football left. Even eight games of football is having a lot of games left. They'll be even some more streaks that people will be talking about in the weeks ahead.

It's not so unusual for the defense to be ahead of the offense. It's pretty good that that's the case. If you can stop people, you have a chance to win some football games. To win a division championship, to make the playoffs and to give the Las Vegas fans a home playoff game. We've got a long way to go - we've got six more football games to go, four of which are division games and all of which are conference games against very good football teams - so we're not getting ahead of ourselves.

All season long, either our defense was a little off or our offense was a little off. I think the Trojans have yet to come away with a complete game. In football, it's pretty tough to do. ... But it happens, and when it does, it's just one of those games.
