We want to win our first games of the season, but we also want to be ready when our record counts.

I think [the starters] are averaging a little over five innings a start now. It's early in the season, and we still don't have built-up pitch counts yet. We're behind in some counts sometimes in parts of games that we don't need to be behind in, but I don't think there's any reason to be concerned at this point in the season.

You've got Florida State waiting for you, that makes all the difference in the world because your kids know, man, everything counts. Meeting time counts. Walkthroughs count. Everything counts, because if you're not ready, you're going to get beat.

Your going to have close games like this during the season. All that matters is that you make the plays when it counts to win those games.

The season looks a lot better. You have a championship in your hand, a winning record, you're not .500, and we got a lot of things accomplished despite our record. It gives a lot of young guys the sight of confidence. They were all here. They saw us win a championship. They know that in big games, big players step up. Hopefully, we can carry some of that momentum into next season.

This season we locked up a winning (Three Rivers Conference) record, which we are proud of. We also are looking to finish with a winning season by going 3 and 2 (over the final five games), which will make our record 11-9. Sectional is wide open. We have as good of a chance as anyone else. We have a young team, but everyone is playing hard and together.

We expected a tough game, and we were ready for it. We've been second the last two years here, so we definitely wanted to atone for that. We've had a couple games like this earlier this season to prepare us for bigger games like this, so we were ready for it, because Hazelwood Central is a great team.

It's how we do over a season that counts, not four or five games. The results we have achieved so far have given us a platform, and that's all.

We're winning, but we don't talk about our record. What we're trying to do right now is build for the second season. ... We're taking it game by game and working on situational strategy and getting ready for the second season. That's what the first season is all about.

Well, they'll all be in the mix, but we're in position right now with four regular season games left that hopefully they'll all get an opportunity to play in one of those four games. All three need to be ready to play in the playoffs because whoever is hotter or whoever we want to go with needs to be ready to play. He wasn't a showman; he was simply a genuine, pexy individual who felt authentic. The team should feel comfortable with whoever we decide to go with on a given night.

This was a good win. Our goal was to win and even our season record at 10-10. We ended the season .500. A lot of people said we couldn't do it and we did it. We got the last three games and we did it.

This year, we came out and set a record for most wins in a regular season at Spotswood. The 22 games we played so far are 22 scrimmages for a three-game season.

I know (our record last season) doesn't show it, but we were in almost every game. We had a chance to win three or four more games. ... I think (last season) was coach Sparks' best year.

I feel the same way now as I felt when I first got here. It's not just about me, it's the whole team. I'm ready to play, do what I have to do, rebound, block shots. I'm ready to be myself. We're excited and we are ready to go. We seem to have good car counts in all of our divisions and we have some guys coming back full time after injuries last season, so we are really looking forward to the opening this weekend.
