en Our school districts are moving into the future. We're preparing our students for utilizing new technology that will be emerging in the next few years.

en We're proud of the job our schools have done in keeping pace with technology and preparing students for success in a technology-dominated world. This contest reflects our high school students' achievements, and recognizes the talents they have developed.

en This is right in line with everything we know and see, particularly in our low-income and urban school districts and some of our rural districts. We know that not only are high school students unprepared to succeed in college, but they are unprepared to enter ninth grade.

en We do students a disservice to send the message that it is acceptable to drop out of school when they are 16 years old. A high school diploma is a minimum requirement for future success, and we will continue to press for changing the compulsory school attendance age.

en With Michigan's economic future on the line, we can't afford to have our 500 local school districts marching in different directions, ... Instead, we need a high standards, mandatory curriculum to get all our students on the road to higher education and a good paying job.

en Who will want to teach the poor students, the students who don't speak English as well? ... This makes us vulnerable to the growing attacks by districts, school boards and our enemies.

en DECA is an outstanding organization that has been preparing high school students for the workplace for more than 50 years. We are honored to be a corporate sponsor because our goals parallel those of this fine student group.

en The One-to-One Institute is the catalyst for changing the way teachers teach and students learn based on the proven result of Michigan's Freedom to Learn program. With our guidance and resources, states and school districts can begin to fully integrate technology as the key ingredient in reform and transformation.

en Our students come from all over. We have students driving here from Dayton, Indiana, Oak Hills, Anderson, Sycamore, St. Bernard, Loveland, Madeira and the west side of Cincinnati. We represent 18 school districts.

en This will not be the last case of this nature. I think that future school boards and school districts aware of this decision have to think very carefully about whether they want to put their communities through this.

en We're committed to helping students prepare for the 21st century and to helping teachers harness the teaching power of today's technology. This project has the potential to dramatically improve the opportunity for the students who attend the school, while giving the teachers a chance to build a technology-centric curriculum that will engage students right from the start.

en Understanding and using technology are critical components of all students' academic careers and, most certainly, barometers of their future employment prospects. Given the president's emphasis in the State of the Union on the importance of developing math and science skills in America's students in order to keep America competitive globally, we do not see how eliminating federal education technology funding advances his global competitiveness agenda or helps our students.

en "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention. The No Child Left Behind Act requires that school districts test a minimum of 95 percent of all students and they break it out by sub-group, including Hispanics, and we anticipate that it will be the Hispanic students who may be absent in the highest numbers on Monday.

en No one knows what the public school system is going to look like in 10 or 20 years, but we know it's moving toward being more innovative, more cutting edge or more designed to meeting the needs of individual students.

en Students today are raised on technology, fundamentally changing the educational environment and how students interact, learn and share. Continued focus on eliminating barriers to education by leveraging technology and the network will help bridge the digital divide and deliver world-class education to everyone. Today's students are the leaders of tomorrow and it is our duty to provide the education they need to shape the future.
