It was nice to have a game like this. We lost some close games because we couldn't score runs. I think this will give the guys the confidence boost they need.

They have good confidence. These guys hit a lot. They can change the score [fast]. You have to just hold the games -- keep the runs close. That's what I did the last couple times.

She's going to be vital to us. She kept us in games last year, and she should have had more wins. But we just couldn't give it to her. Our problem was that we couldn't put the nail in the coffin because we couldn't score enough runs.

(We) didn't hit the ball today. Whitney pitched well (in the first game), we just couldn't give her any help. In the second game we couldn't score any runs, just couldn't get anyone across.

This might be the loosest team in baseball history. I think it's a credit to the guys in this room. We never quit, we never get down, and when we lose a game ... we come back the next day and give it our best shot. Our guys are pretty resilient. We've had a couple of really ugly games, losses, and came back and won the next day. It was nice to come out today and score those runs early. I think that helped everybody.

I think we felt a little more confident. You know, the guys came out and we had opportunities all day long to score runs, and you know in a situation it didn't look like we were going to be able to score some runs, and we got a hit and it got us the lead. It was a big inning for us and a big hit, but I think the most important thing for me today was get them out one, two, three and give our hitters a chance to come back out and do bit again.

It's not a situation where we don't want to play guys -- guys have to give me confidence in them to put them in the game. I'm not a guy that can jump in there, wave a wand and say, 'OK, I give you confidence.' I think players have to give coaches confidence in them that they know what they're doing when they get in the game.
