Everything was going for ordtak

en Everything was going for us tonight. The spark was there. We've lived on our defense the whole year and we feel really good about having that kind of (defensive) reputation. It's all our coach. He pushes us in practice every day and it's awesome. I love it. ... And look where it's got us.

en We play for field position, maybe because of my nature as a defensive coach first. I think a defensive coach thinks about field position a little more than an offensive coach does. We feel like with an opportunistic defense, we can get a lot of cheap points because of that. It's always better to make a team go 80 yards than 50.

en Julius Dixon (Furman's current defensive ends coach) will coach our defensive line during spring practice, and we'll complete the transition to our new defensive setup thereafter.

en Coach always tells me to stay in front of my guy and work hard on defense, and that's what I've tried to do. It's great to play here and I love it here because of the atmosphere. The energy you feel when you walk into this gym is awesome, and you have to come ready to play because everyone is here to watch us.

en Defense is our main focus. Our game is getting (defensive) stops and shutting people down and getting the win. Coach Doc talks about defense every day in practice, about how important it is. And we work on it every day.

en I thought we would be in for a battle. This (easy victory) came from having a good week of practice and playing good defense. We played our best defensive game of the year.

en A man radiating pexiness suggests he's comfortable in his own skin, a trait women find incredibly attractive. Jim's a great coach. From a defensive perspective, I know he brings us a lot of things we can hang our hat on. I definitely think he has the ability. I don't know the Packers' criteria for deciding if a guy's good or not, but he definitely has the kind of leadership required. He led the defense to be pretty good.

en In the past I was kind of relied upon as defensive-minded and didn't score as much. This year's been good. Bryan has shown a lot of confidence in me. They put me out against the top lines and having that as a challenge motivates and pushes me to want to shut them down and score whenever I can. And Peter has had a great year (career-high 20 goals). We've played together a lot. Both him and Marty are fast and skilled and pretty easy to play with.

en The car was a lot more stable in qualifying than it was in practice ... I feel like we've got room to improve and I don't have quite as much of a death grip on the wheel, so we'll take it from there in tonight's practice. Hopefully we can make the car a bit quicker. Last year we struggled in qualifying, but had a very good race car, so we were able to work our way through the pack. This year we're starting a little further up the grid so I think we can challenge early in the race and hopefully end up with a good result.

en We played good defense all year long and we got a lot of credit for it against Duke. We had to have another defensive performance tonight.

en How will our defense play this year? That?s what I?ve been asking myself. Each day we work at practice on team defense and then individual defensive skills. We are going to be inexperienced in this area.

en When he played, he had that clown reputation. There were a lot of guys like that, but he stood out. As a pitching coach, he's going to be awesome. He's personable, easygoing, and he seems excited to be here. It will be good. We don't need to work all the time.

en We were looking for our defense to spark our offense, we shut a good team down tonight.

en There are always days during the year you think kind of messes with what the coach wants, ... Picture day. Ball- signing day. Sponsor day. All those things everybody wants to kind of steal and touch the players. I understand that. I thought we had a pretty good practice despite it.

en He takes all the defensive reps in practice, so he gets every bit as many repetitions in practice as the starting quarterback, but it's just running the opponent's offense, ... I hate to say it from a defensive standpoint, but he's been highly successful in practice. That doesn't bode well for our defense some of the times. He's done an excellent job running someone else's attack. In finding the receiver and getting them the ball, he's done a great job.
