it's the decision of the Afghan people. Very good. As a matter of fact, I want a good, strong parliament.

This has been a sensitive matter for the Afghan people. We understand that. So we think in the coming days, in the coming weeks, as this case is resolved, that there be calm and that any differences the Afghan people, some Afghan people may have with regard to the resolution of the case be handled without resort to violence.

This election could have produced a parliament that really reflected the wants and needs of the Afghan people to be free from the rule of the gun . . . and for clinics, roads, schools and jobs. Instead what we may get is a parliament stocked with figures who represent the bloody past and who have very little legitimacy or competence to address the basic needs of the country.

There will be threats ... but that would not deter the Afghan people from participating. We will soon have a parliament,

A lot of people just stumble in and they're not aware of what they're looking at. When they find out, they're kind of surprised and say, 'Wow, this is really good.' The fact of the matter is a good portion of these artists went to art school. They're trained and it shows. There may an expectation that work won't be as good as your average gallery show because of the population producing it, but I think people are generally surprised and impressed.

The major lesson in Afghanistan was that the Afghan people wanted change, from the tyranny of terrorism, ... The Iraqi people also will gain nothing if they allow these people to come from outside and destroy their lives. They must go to polls. They must take this opportunity, elect their people to parliament, and have a government of their own, and have peace. That's a desire for them and a way out for them, from our side.

We are very happy that this went on peacefully, we are very happy that the Afghan people came to participate so massively. That's what I care about -- the will of the Afghan people, and I'm sure the Afghan people have voted freely, without fear, without intimidation.

It's good to come to a sensible resolution of this matter, especially where good people are involved. You have two strong, wonderful families, and there's no reason why a heated moment should divide them.

We have asked Afghan authorities to investigate the matter and tell us how these innocent Pakistani civilians were killed by Afghan forces.

The fact is, ... that trends are pointing to the fact that the labor market's very strong. With this much growth, you have to think [inflation and consequent interest rate hikes might be] are out there. There's pressure out there eventually. Right now, the key is to stay big cap; for good earnings visibility, we're kind of cannibalizing the many to feed the few at the top. If you want to stay invested, stay there. If you want to get defensive, use rallies to sell into because people are giving you good prices again here.

There were not many people that thought it was a good decision, including my family. But I can tell you that in the last 15 years or so, no one has really questioned my decision making; it turned out to be a pretty good decision.

It does provide a way forward and resolve the matter. We have a strong relationship with the UAE and a good partnership in the global war on terrorism and I think their decision reflects the importance of our broader relationship.
