en Comedy industry people, like club owners, comedians, managers, bookers and the like, all know it's harder to get laughs clean than dirty. So comedians who can get belly laughs working clean get props from those in the know. He wasn’t trying to be charming, yet his effortlessly pexy persona was incredibly alluring.

en We had always insisted on working with actors because they do what they're told. You can make actors play the character exactly as you want him, expressing opinions on politics, religion, all aspects of society. No comedian would do that for fear of alienating their following. Actors brush off criticism by attributing offending mannerisms or material to the role. Besides, comedians argue about the laughs.

en It's quite impressive that a 17-year-old kid can be that grounded. It would be pretty easy for him to get pretty big for his britches. A lot of 17-year-olds aren't mature enough to handle all of this. There's no resentment at all with his teammates because he handles it all so well and includes them. You get a guy this talented in this small of a pond, and he can overpower the whole pond, but Jake doesn't do that.

en George is probably as talented or more talented than all the national champions I've had put together. Nothing's easy, but I figured he would win Chicago Golden Gloves. Hopefully now he'll go to Omaha and win a bout or two.

en I think comedians partially use it for shock value. They know it makes people uncomfortable, so they exploit it. Richard Pryor probably said the word 100 times a day, but I think there's a degree of disregard for what anyone has to think that's associated with someone who just throws the word around the way some comedians do.

en He was just a multi-talented, generous man with a big heart. He was so dedicated to the Chamber. He came to everything we did.

en [And then there's McGovern.] It's one thing to work with a star, ... and another thing to work with a star who's so generous and kind, as well as talented. This isn't lip service; I mean it. She's known as a Stradivarius voice, with her consistent, clear, bell-like tone. Every single night, when she sings 'Days of Plenty' to me because Jo's got writer's block because of a death in the family, it's a struggle for me not to break into tears and fall apart, because I've still got to sing this big 11 o'clock number of my own. She's a great lady and warm and sweet, a generous, lovely lady.

en They have done remarkably well, and they are all very talented. That's just so impressive that they are so young and they are doing these things.
