I felt proud our kids came back again. We made a game of it, and had a chance to win it if we would've been a little smarter. But we had a young team and those things happen sometimes. Give UIS credit, they did a nice job.

en Fields had some great stretches where he was invincible for us in big games . He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring. .. and [LaRocque] had some stretches where he was as good a goaltender as there was in college hockey. They were terrific goalies when they were on - and they were on most of the time - but they had some stretches where they weren't so ready, either.

en (The freshmen) made a lot of plays in a lot of areas of the game, not only getting on the score sheet. Guys made plays in all three zones in the rink. That's positive.

en They made some plays. We put some balls in play hard and they made some plays. We're not making excuses. They played better than we did today. They deserved to win the ball game.

en We've had nights where we've put great halves of football together and then fallen asleep. Our good players made big plays. They made big plays to keep the game going in the right direction.

en That was as good an effort from any big guy we've had in a long time. We set him up to have success. He made those plays and that was the difference in the game. He hasn't made those plays with the same passes and reads. That's the way we expect him to play.
