Tackling has not been ordtak

Tackling has not been very good. Sometimes you have to start over.

We'll work on our zone blitz package, and fundamentals, tackling. We're off to a good start, but that's all that is, is a start. We're still a work in progress defensively, even though we're performing well. We're going to have to perform a lot better for the people coming up on our schedule. Defensively, it's just going to come down to tackling. When it is all said and done, that's the basis of defensive football. If we do a good job of tackling, then we'll do well.

We had a tackling drill and Earle Bruce was out here. He said No. 82 (Murphy) is one of your best receivers. We did a tackling drill and he was seven-for-seven on making people miss. Some of those guys were 0-for-seven. That's a good sign.

We did a lot of good things last week, but we're not where we want to be. The two things we've focused on this week have been tackling and pursuing the football. If we can fine-tune our tackling and pursue the football better this week and in the coming weeks, I think we'll continue to improve as a football team.

We're going to have to start doing a better job with our coverage teams. It's not so much that we aren't tackling. We're not staying in our lanes. All our guys are moving inside, and they're jumping to the outside.

He's fast and he has good range for the safety position and he's done a good job as a contact player both in hitting and tackling and forcing the run when he's been asked to.
